There's more than 11, but here are a few.

Although having a significant other can be a wonderful experience, so can being single. I never could understand why society seems to think only one is amazing, when really, both of them are. There are many great things about being single, and here are a quick 11 of them:

1. You don't have to spend money on someone else.

Birthday presents, Christmas presents, Valentine’s day gifts - throw all of that out the window. Those $50 you’d be dropping for someone else (who probably won’t enjoy or appreciate as much as you’d like them to) can be spent on anything you want.

2. You don’t have to take anyone else’s dinner requests into consideration.

No “I don’t know, where do YOU want to eat?” here - you can eat wherever you want or cook whatever you want, every single day.

3. No boring sex life for you!

You can hook up with whoever you want (as long as all parties give consent!), whenever you want, no constraints or judgment. Sex is never repetitive or boring, and when it is, you can just move on from it.

4. Babysitting a plus-one at your office party or parent’s anniversary is out of the question.

If you show up alone, there’s no one you need to be responsible for! Them getting too drunk, saying something inappropriate, or wearing the worst sweater known to mankind can’t happen if they don’t exist.

5. Literally anything can happen to your life at any time, and that anticipation is a feeling worth appreciating.

6. If you want to make a change - move cities, change your job, take a trip - there’s not a single soul you have to consult about it.

Any change you make is for you, and no one can stop you, or make you feel guilty.

7. You don’t have to hang out with their friends that you may not like, or on that note, their family that you may not like.

8. There’s no one to defend purchases to or fight about money with when there’s no one there.

If you want to buy something, you go for it!

9. You have time to spend on whatever you’d like.

You can hang out with friends daily, advance your career without interruptions, or just take a lot of naps with no one bothering you.

10. Speaking of sleeping, spending the night alone is WAY underrated.

No one is waking you up earlier than necessary with an alarm (or snoozing it multiple times!), no one is stealing the covers, and no one is talking when you’re trying to sleep. Just you and your dreams, left alone. Ahhh..take it in.

11. You really learn to love yourself and spend time alone.

You realize how fulfilling your relationship with yourself is, and how much you have to offer the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
