What are the benefits of being on a team? Why should you want to be a on a team? The benefits are endless. The real question should be, why would you not want to be on a team?
1. Guaranteed Support
New school or new select team? No need to worry, because being on a team guarantees you people to talk to and, most likely, friends. Not everyone will like you and want to become your best friend, but they will at least have to put up with you and socialize with you on the court. While I cannot promise you friendship, I can promise support.
2. New Friends
With meeting new people on your team, some friendships begin to form. I have met almost all of my closest friends through volleyball. Sports bring people together; they give you a common interest and you build a friendship from there. Go make some friends!
3. Team Work
All throughout your life people are put in situations within their jobs where they have to work with others to meet a deadline, partner up for a project or deal with someone they are not a fan of in the office. You have to learn to step aside from the negatives you see in others off the court or field, to perform better and be successful during your game or job. Team work makes the dream work.
4. Role Models
Your coaches teach you some valuable things while you play. How to handle situations you aren't a fan of, what to act like or what not to act like, what you want out of life, how to fight to make your dreams come true and the rewards of working hard.
5. Positive Reinforcement
Sports teach you that if you do something correctly, you will have the amazing reward of confidence and fulfillment. Working hard consistently to reach your goal and reaching it is one of the most amazing feelings in the world. This teaches you to work hard in jobs, schooling and whatever life throws at you to accomplish everything you want to.
Sports are beneficial to our lives in many way. I encourage you to join a team because these are only a few of the many reasons why being on a team is beneficial.
