My first week of being in California I went to see Disney’s The BFG early. By early, I mean we saw it the day before its release date. Not too many people get this kind of opportunity in their life for any kind of movie. The only people that come to mind are those who went to midnight premieres and missed school the next day, especially those who were obsessed with Twilight. Here are some of my thoughts after watching this film.

1. OH YAY, ENGLAND!

Anytime a movie takes place in England my heart jumps for joy! My people should be proud of themselves for living in an amazing country.

2. That tree though!

That tree that held all those dreams was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, It’s almost like Christmas was lighting up in front of our eyes.

3. That pond though!

Who knew illusions can be that real in a Disney movie? When they jumped into that pond to find more dreams, my mind was blown!

4. Those dreams though!

Those dreams are very vivid from the beginning of the movie all the way to end. I sometimes wish I had dreams like those and had someone narrate them like the BFG did.

5. This giant is the friendliest giant.

At first I had no idea what the giant was doing putting Sophie in the pan. Once they actually talked I was glad no one was getting hurt.

6. Sophie knew their friendship was going to last.

From telling each other secrets to the BFG actually having Sophie stick around that friendship was going to last a lifetime. Who else would go on adventures like that too?

7. Sophie finally had a family!

After that whole episode with the giants and the queen her dreams of having a family came true. The fact it was a royal family too made me grin from ear to ear.

8. That vegetable looks disgusting.

The snozzcumber did not look like a food us humans would eat. Inside and out I was thankful this vegetable does not exist in our society.

9. That moment you finally had real food.

The BFG looked baffled when those eggs and toast came to his very table. His reaction when he first took a bite is the reaction college students have when coming home for break.

10. Roald Dahl’s book was well done as a Disney movie.

I can easily say that Disney has done it again making another masterpiece. I don’t think there are any more words to describe it.

If you loved this book as a kid then you will definitely love this movie. The BFG is playing in theaters starting July 1st.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
