Dear Coffee,

I would like to start this letter by explaining how the birth of our beautiful relationship started. I resented you at one point in my life, I wanted nothing to do with you and the thought of your presence disgusted me. However, I was too quick to judge you and I apologize. I fell in love with you slowly. As I began college we started to spend more time together and the more I learned about you more I knew that an unbreakable bond was forming. There are many reasons as to why I love you and here are a few of them.

1. Your versatility

I love that you can be wonderful as your pure self (bitter and black) but can also be transformed into many different things. You can be served hot, cold, iced, with cream/sugar, with the addition of pumpkin spice or vanilla and every other combination one could think of and you are still so gorgeous. You get the job done even with the most unique combinations and I love you for being able to adapt to everyone's preferences. You give so much joy.

2. You get me through even the toughest of times

I am so thankful that you are there for me day or night. I can always count on you to understand me in a way that no one else can. You have helped me through countless hours of grueling chemistry, late night drives, bad moods, beautiful days, and everything in between. We have been through so much together and I love the support that you offer to me.

3. You provide positive additions to my health

Not only do you give emotional support, you also provide helpful physical components as well. You help lower my risk of Type 2 Diabetes, decrease my chance of developing Alzheimer's Disease, boost my fiber intake, decrease my risk of heart disease, and reduce the risk of depression. You are always looking out for me.

Coffee, you, wonderful piece of liquid joy, you bring so much happiness to my world. You never fail to bring a smile to my face when I smell your invigorating scent and taste your sweet, bitter, and warm goodness. Our friendship will last forever. I love you with all of my heart. Thank you for being you.

Love always,

A Developing Addict

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
