10 Reasons Why I Love MSU
Murray State University

If you don't go to Murray State University, I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart. You are missing out on the best experience of your life. I have done something right in my life, because I have been blessed enough to be accepted here and experience the best four years of my life at the greatest place on earth.

Here are reasons why I love MSU and so should you:

1. The Alumni Staff.

I have been very blessed to work in the Alumni office on campus. It is a fabulous group of people who work incredibly hard to get and keep the support of our thousands of fantastic alumni. Also the FANTASTIC tradition that everyone loves so much known as 'Tent City' on homecoming day, we have this staff to thank. They work tirelessly all year long to make sure this beloved tradition goes off.

2. New Student Programs.

Before this past weekend, I would probably would not have put this on my list, but I can wholeheartedly say I made 41 new, amazing and diverse friends who are some of the most inspiring people I have ever met. We laughed, I totally cried, we were vulnerable and honest with each other. We were also sneaky and goofy and had the time of our lives learning how to change others and make sure new students love MSU as much as the rest of us do.

3. Basketball.

All you need to know, is that we ROCK, and I had class with a boy who now plays in the NBA and was the 13th draft pick. #shoesUP

4. ADPi.

Had I not joined this group, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt I would not love MSU and I probably wouldn't have stayed either. These girls show me unconditional love everyday, I am better and push myself harder because of them. I have 3 BEAUTIFUL and WONDERFUL roommates and BFF's because of this incredible organization that I will have for the rest of my life.

5. Residential Colleges.

Living on campus is the best thing ever. You can wake up 15 minutes before you have to be in class and still be there with 3 minutes to spare. This is truly where it all begins. You begin networking and making friends, some last longer than others. If you are as lucky as I am, you meet the very best roommate who becomes your best friend, and one that you know will forever be in your life. (No matter how loud you may be at 3 a.m. coming home while they are sleeping or obnoxiously jumping on their bed to wake them up)

6. Campus Life.

This campus is beautiful; not only do we have beautiful old buildings full of history and some are accompanied with ghost stories, we also have new up-to date buildings that you see in a magazine. This campus is beautiful because of the people. There is so much diversity everywhere you look. There are people from not only all over the United States but from all over the world! That truly amazes me.

7. The President.

This man. He is what every university and college president, high school principal and school district superintendents need to model their jobs after. He is always on campus, making sure his students know that he supports them. He is vocal, making sure the students, faculty and staff, and even Alumni know how much he appreciates them and supports them. But most importantly, he makes the job seem easy, because he always has a smile on his face and a joke to tell just to make sure people are laughing and having a good time.

8. The Community.

I have spent a lot of time growing up in this town, because my grandparents live here and my mom grew up here. I have never been so impressed with the true hospitality of a town in my life. No matter where you go people are always so genuinely kind and helpful. While the town may be small, there is so much opportunity for residents and college students in this town, you just have to know where to look for it.

9. Friendships.

I have made the BEST friends a girl could ask for in her entire life time. Every friend I hold near and dear to my heart come from all walks of life, each of them has a different story and I met each of them so differently. Some I met living with, some I met being recruited to join my sorority, some I met recruiting for my sorority and some I met at some little part-time job off campus. I have to figure out what I have done in my life to deserve these people, but if I never find out, that is okay with me. All that matters is they are here now, and I am not letting them go anywhere.

10. We have made our own little corner in the world.

When I say I go to Murray State, sometimes people have no idea what or where it is. It doesn't matter. I know that no matter where life takes me, I will always be able to call Murray home. The people, students and faculty know just how special this place truly is. From the outside looking in you may not know or understand, but from the inside looking out, all you can do is wonder 2 things: 1. how people could choose anywhere else and 2. how very very blessed you are to be on the inside of the Murray State University family.
