8 Reasons Why I Love My Guy Best Friend

My girls will always be there for me, but my guy best friend also holds a special place in my heart. When you're a girl with a guy best friend, you understand the unique bond that is formed in an instant. Some people may not understand it, but they don't have to. This friendship should be held onto very tightly. Here are eight reasons why I love my guy best friend:

1. He handles the "are you guys dating?" question like a champ.

Something you just can't escape when you're friends with a member of the opposite sex. It's so nonchalant to shrug it off at this point, or jokingly accept it. Everyone thinks we're dating? Sure, just go with it! #guysandgirlscanbejustfriends

2. He doesn't judge me when I ugly cry in front of him.

Whether I've had a rough day of school work, or I am stressed out, the tears are unavoidable sometimes. No matter how emotional I get, he doesn't run off scared. He lets me do my own thing and is always there with open arms.

3. The best advice is given by him and he always knows just what to say.

Sometimes it is nice to have a different opinion on things. Advice from a male point of view is just what a girl needs at times to keep her grounded. He cares for me and genuinely wants the best for me because he is that great of a friend.

4. He's not afraid to tell it like it is.

He is always looking out for my best interest and reminding me of my great potential. If he doesn't think a guy is right for me or has wrong intentions, he lets me know. He also reminds me when I am being a little too mean or overthinking a situation.

5. No matter how much food I eat in front of him, there is no judgment.

Want to get ice cream for the fourth time this week? Sure! Whether it be cake, ice cream, or pizza, you'll find us eating one of them. I can stuff my face and not have a care in the world. Late night drives to 7/11 for snacks is what we do best. Food is the key to friendship and the answer to life.

6. He is always a phone call/Facetime/text message away.

I know I can always count on him to be there for me no matter what time of day it is. Whether it be making silly faces on Facetime, or just texting funny pictures back and forth, it always makes me smile.

7. We take the best selfies.

I can't even count how many pictures we have together at this point. Although some of them are quite embarrassing, they hold great memories. Every day is a new adventure that has to be captured.

8. No matter what comes between us, I know we will always be there for each other.

And that is all I could ever hope for in a friendship. Thank you for everything that you do for me, and thank you for playing such an important role in my life. Love you!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
