Many criticize the Catholic Church, but as a Catholic teenager, I am grateful beyond words for its presence in my life.

34 Reasons I Love The Catholic Church
St. Thomas the Apostle Church

1. Catholic churches are so beautiful.

2. I have 2000 years of Church teachings to reference for help in my faith journey.

3. Pope Francis is awesome.

4. There are 1.2 billion Roman Catholics in the world (and yet the Church feels so small and personal).

5. I get to have one-on-one time with Jesus, physically and spiritually, in Adoration.

6. Traditional organ music is so beautiful.

7. No matter where I go on vacation, I get to go to the same service.

8. Confession is such a refreshing part of my life, spiritually and just overall.

9. Confession is also a fantastic time to ask an adult for advice about problems in my life, without fear of judgment or the spread of rumors.

10. Every week, I meet with a bunch of other teenagers to learn about and fall in love with God at LifeTeen. (How awesome is that?)

11. The Eucharist is such a beautiful gift.

12. When the priest holds up the host to consecrate it, I feel a shiver run down my spine.

13. The Holy Spirit has become such a big part of my life now that I receive Communion regularly.

14. It's so beautiful to watch as parents baptize their newborn babies.

15. ...And it's even more beautiful to watch 15- and 16-year-olds fulfill their parents' promise at Baptism and choose God for themselves during Confirmation.

16. Adoration allows me to get away from the noise of everyday life and spend an hour in silence.

17. I've met some of the kindest and most humble people, especially teenagers, through LifeTeen.

18. My mother is a convert, and her enthusiasm for the faith is so infectious.

19. I hear an excerpt from the Old Testament, the Gospel, and the Acts of the Apostles or letters of Paul every single week at Mass.

20. I feel so much lighter every time I step out of the confessional.

21. My parish has many people of many different backgrounds, and I love the diversity.

22. At LifeTeen, I feel comfortable talking about my deepest secrets and problems without the fear of being judged.

23. I'm also not scared to speak about Jesus in front of a crowd of 60-70 people because of LifeTeen.

24. The opportunity to be in a room with the physical presence of Jesus is astounding.

25. Transubstantiation is mind-blowing and truly reveals Jesus' love for us.

26. LifeTeen retreats are life-changing.

27. The Church reminds me that I will screw up—but there's always Confession to get me back on my feet.

28. I never feel judged or outcast at church.

29. Every Sunday, I walk out of Mass with a new idea or perspective on Jesus.

30. Stations of the Cross permits me to truly comprehend and appreciate Jesus' sacrifice.

31. ...As does the consecration of the host at every Mass.

32. There are so many amazing parts of the Catholic Church that I could write hundreds of more reasons.

33. But the biggest reason is that through the Catholic Church, I have finally learned to love and form a relationship with Jesus Christ.

34. And Jesus Christ is awesome beyond words. I'm beyond grateful that the Church has helped me see that.
