1) Diversity
I think this may be my favorite thing about being from Montgomery County, the amount of diversity that this county has is unbelievable. It’s no wonder that NBC News placed Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Germantown in the top 10 most diverse cities in the country.
2) You can go from a very rural town to a city in less than an hour
It takes less than an hour to get from Poolesville to get to downtown Bethesda; it’s very convenient.
3) That instant connection when you meet someone else from Moco
Whenever someone at Stevenson tells me that they’re from Montgomery County Maryland I immediately ask them what high school they went to. It’s like we have this type of connection that no one else will understand.
4) The Slang
It’s not the same when you try to speak in MoCo slang with someone who has no clue what you’re saying.
5) Areas for shopping
We have three different malls to choose from: Montgomery Mall, Lakeforest, and Wheaton. Plus we now have the Clarksburg Outlets :’)
6) It's so close to DC
Depending which city you’re from it can take less than an hour or just about 5 minutes to get to D.C. Being close to the nation's capital is pretty great.
7) The Metro
Wanna go to Tysons Corner? Take the Red Line and get off at Metro Center, then hop on the Silver Line towards Wiehle-Reston East. Wanna goes to the National Mall take the Red Line and get off at the Metro Center. A lot of people just walk to the National Mall from the Metro Center but I find it easier to hop on the Blue line towards Largo Town Center and either hop off at Federal Triangle or Smithsonian. It really all depends on which part of the mall you want to go to and how much walking you really want to do. My point is that The Metro makes traveling from Moco to D.C. much easier.
Overall, MoCo is the best. End of story.
