8 Reasons Why Every Girl Needs A Guy Best Friend

It's truly a wonderful friendship.

'm a firm believer that every girl needs a guy best friend in her life-- no, not someone she's trying to get with someday-- just a good, solid, platonic guy to spend time with, laugh with, and have fun with. Though many would argue otherwise, I'm a firm believer that girls and guys can be best friends without it becoming romantic. If you're one to say girl/guy friendships always turn romantic, I've made this list just for you:

1. They're always there to laugh with you (or at you).

Let's face it, girls can be kind of sensitive sometimes. But with guys, you can make fun of each other and laugh it off without someone getting hurt, and that's awesome.

2. You can talk about boys without them trying to help.

This goes both ways, too! You can share all of your relationship drama, talk about the cute boy in class, or ask "what would you rate him?" without anyone intervening. Girl friends are notorious for wanting to help you with your relationships, but guys tend to listen and give occasional input.

3. They really care about you.

Guys can be some of the sweetest creatures on planet Earth. Guy best friends will always ask how your day was, make sure you're okay when you're sad, and always let you know how much they care. Sometimes that caring comes off a bit harsh, but trust me, it comes from a place of love.

4. They'll never let you settle.

Guy best friends will show you what it's like for a guy to treat you the right way, and they'll never let you settle for less in a relationship. This includes scoping out every guy you mention and making sure they're fit for the queen that you really are.

5. You can be completely yourself around them.

The cool thing about a platonic girl-guy relationship is that there are no expectations whatsoever. You can hang out in no makeup, pajamas, and just-out-of-bed hair. There's no one to impress, and it's truly a wonderful thing.

6. There's NO drama.

Sure, you tell each other about your personal drama, but there's no drama between the two of you. No petty fights; no gossiping about each other; just pure fun. Guys tell it like it is, so there's nothing to be worried about.

7. They love you like you are family.

If your guy best friend doesn't protect you like an older brother, he's not doing his job, and that works both ways. You treat each other like family and always want the best for them. They'll go to great lengths to ensure that you're happy, cared for, and loved. Every girl deserves that in her life.

8. Nothing beats hugs from your guy best friend.

Enough said.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
