We’re officially a month into the fall season, and so far, it has been nothing but amazing. Fall is a season that has so many great things to offer: sports, holidays, cool temperatures, pretty colors, and so much more. Fall is the season where you’re bound to go on countless adventures and make an infinite amount of memories. Here are 10 reasons why fall is amazing:

1. Halloween

Candy, costumes, parties, horror movies - could you ask for anything more? Halloween is such a busy time, whether you’re attending a costume party, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, or even rewatching Hocus Pocus for the 100th time. There’s always something to do. Halloween is the one time a year where you’re able to get super creative with your outfits; you can dress up without feeling judged. Not only that, but it’s also a great excuse to stuff your face with an endless supply of candy.

2. Haunted Houses

Haunted houses go hand-in-hand with the Halloween season; it’s a must do during the fall. Who doesn’t love being scared and chased around by dressed up zombies, werewolves, and other creatures? Haunted houses might be a terrifying experience, but they give you a good adrenaline rush from start to finish and also make for great future stories.

3. Thanksgiving

A day dedicated to family, food, and thanks. Thanksgiving is another great holiday fall has to offer. It’s a time when you can gather around with family, eat delicious homemade food, and share your gratitude.

4. Sweater Weather

Chilly out? Wear a sweater. Absolutely freezing? Sweater. Fall is the perfect season for sweaters. No matter if it’s mid or freezing temperatures, you’re always going to be comfortable rocking a sweater. You can wear them out or even sleep in them; you can basically do anything in a sweater. Not only are they comfy, but they are also super cute and fashionable.

5. Football

NFL, College, and high school football all begin in the fall. Basically you’ll always find some sort of football affiliated game on TV or event nearby. If you’re a football fan, this is your season!

6. Postseason Baseball

Couldn’t forget about the baseball fans. Unfortunately, baseball season ends at the beginning of fall, but it’s also when the excitement of the postseason kicks in. You get to see some of the best teams in baseball face-off in some electrifying, chilling moments. No matter what team you’re rooting for, it’s always an exciting time.

7. Nature

The colors and atmosphere are the most beautiful compared to the other seasons. Crisp air, leaves changing, the colors, the scenery -- everything just appears so perfect. Fall is the perfect time to get a good nature photo-op; wherever you are, you’re bound to get a stunning result.

8. Everything Pumpkin

Pumpkin patches, pumpkin carving, pumpkin flavored food. Pretty much everywhere you go you’re bound to see something pumpkin. Whether you’re finding the perfect pumpkin to carve or eating pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin will always be incorporated into your fall routine at-least once.

9. Colors

I’ve already mentioned the beauty of nature, but the colors make the fall season 10 times more beautiful. The array of reds, oranges, and yellows are just a stunning asset of fall. You can add these colors into your daily make up routine and fashion style, or you can simply admire the colors through the leaves. There are so many unique ways to incorporate the fall colors.

10. Fall Drinks

Fall is the time where you see a lot of the limited drinks at your favorite coffee shop. Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Apple Cider, specialty flavored mochas; there’s an assortment of fall drinks that you’re bound to love. You’ll never run out of options!

I’m only stopping at 10, but the list could go on as to why fall is such an amazing season. Harvest festivals, sweet treats, and so many more. You’ll never run out of fun adventures during the season. Happy fall!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
