What a strange world we live in today. Of course, this isn't always what life will be like; people panic buying toilet paper and making masks out of whatever household rags they can find. A question does present itself though: Will life be like this again someday? The answer is: yes, quite possibly. Perhaps we won't be in these exact circumstances again, but every year all across America we see tragedy strike, whether it's manmade or of nature, tragedy can strike on any given day. From East to West year-round tragedies can include snowstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes (just to name a few). We can detect almost all these things and give ourselves time to plan, but what happens when millions of people try to gather supplies all at once? Panic, shortage, people fighting each other for common household things; and how many problems such as these would be solved if everyone were (at least a little bit of) a doomsday prepper?

You don't have to go crazy with a fallout shelter and stockpiles of canned food. That's not what this article is about. This article is about eight ways anyone can prepare for anything that life might throw their way. So, let's begin, shall we?

You'll Be Prepared For Anything

Obviously, that is the general idea for any prepper, doomsday or otherwise. By being a prepper you have a plan for everything; whether it's surviving a storm, making it through a pandemic, or whatever else life may throw at you. Being a prepper makes you ahead of the curve when it comes to making it through unscathed.

Disaster Strikes Yearly (Sometimes More)

Here in the state of Florida, there is one particular season that not many others get to "enjoy" and that is 'hurricane season.' Hurricane season is the time between June and November when multiple hurricanes develop in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico. This "season" happens once a year like clockwork and yet, every time one comes our way people rush to the stores to stockpile on toilet paper, water, food, gas, etc. It's almost like they don't see it coming or something… Then when all is said and done people realize that not only is the house they evacuated still standing but also that they have way too much of everything.

If people would lightly prepare over the course of six months or so, they would have enough supplies stockpiled to last them for a hurricane. This would also keep enough supplies on the shelves so that people would be able to buy more supplies, should the need arise.

You Never Truly Know How Long an Event Might Take Place

Looking at the world we're in today life has become difficult, to say the least. Every store big or small seems to be out of paper products, we can't meet in groups anymore, and once-bustling streets of major cities are reminiscent of ghost towns, and people are afraid to go anywhere without masks because they might contract this virus. So how long will life go on like this? It's hard to say really unless you're a scientist working on a cure/vaccine. It could last 2 more weeks, or it could go on until Christmas. If everyone prepared for a situation like this we would not only have more to do at home, it is arguable that we would have less sick or dead then we do.

You Don't Know the Damages the Trouble Might Cause

Being a prepper means that you are prepared to withstand whatever may come, as well as, preparing to flee from whatever may come. When you're a prepper you have a backup plan to make sure that you have somewhere to go in case your house is threatened because you don't know the extent of the damages until after everything is over.

It Could Not Only Save Your Life, but the Lives of Those Around You As Well

By being a prepper and knowing what to do in certain situations you successfully create a plan for you and your family to get out of a dire situation before the trouble comes. Not only this but in the case of people panic buying supplies you can give some to those you know need it, if you have extra.

It Gives You a New Peace-of-Mind

In today's world, no one knows what tomorrow holds, we don't know when work will resume, parks will open, or school will get back in. We hope that it's over in the next 30 days, but there is no guarantee. By having extra supplies, knowing what to do in any situation, and being prepared for whatever may come your way, you have greater peace of mind in knowing that you and your family have the ability and the tools to get out unscathed.

You can Donate Whatever You Don't Use

For most preppers, helping the people beside you are essential because let's face it if we don't help each other, who will? By stockpiling basic essentials you'll be able to help your neighbors, friends, or family who are too slow on the draw for panic buying supplies. And if they have everything that they need then there are hundreds of organizations that will allow you to donate supplies to those in need.

You'll Thank Yourself for Doing It

No one thinks that disaster will strike until it rears its ugly head at us. Then everyone things to themselves, why didn't we have these things before? By having a stockpile of anything that you may need you'll be able to come out on top of things when whatever trouble comes and goes. You'll be safe, dry, and healthy even if you need to rebuild, you'll have your family's safety and that's what is most important.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
