10 Reasons Disney is Addicting

All you need is faith, trust, and pixie dust.

10 Reasons Disney is Addicting

1. It's your childhood.

Being a woman, I am very sentimental. Disney is my childhood and I have no shame reliving this childhood once in a while or every other night. I am a lady and I will watch whatever I want to. We women also really like unrealistic love stories and talking animals.

2. The men.

Who doesn't want a prince? The Disney princes are the ultimate charmers and they're too cute to be fictional characters. Face it, Disney hooked us from the day we laid eyes on Prince Charming.

3. Cute talking animals...or aliens.

No matter how hard we pray or wish on stars, our animals just don't talk. Nor do they fly to Earth on a spaceship. This realization is one of the main reasons we turn to Disney.

4. Magic

Peter Pan taught us to have a little faith, trust, and pixie dust. We learned to believe in magic and in the fact that we can stay as young as we want to for as long as we want. As long as you just believe, you don't have to grow up.

5. The music.

Most Disney movies come packed full of singable music. If you're like me, you'll have them memorized by the third or fourth time you watch the movie and they'll most likely be on your iPod.

6. Relatable characters.

OK, OK, so not every single character is relatable. But I bet you can identify with at least one from every movie...even if it's an animal. As an avid reader and writer, characters are the best parts of any movie or book. It only takes me one time to say "that sounds just like me" to be hooked. Disney draws in its audience because they relate to everyone.

7. The importance of family

Whether there is a ton of family love in the movie or you're actually watching it with your family, this is one of Disney's main focuses. The ability to draw in a group of people that love each other is amazing. It doesn't matter how many shoes you throw at your siblings because the moment someone turns on Frozen, the love is evident.

8. #relationshipgoals

We know that men don't have grand balls to find us or face off again evil witches but Disney love is something that every little girl and even women look for. Don't even say you'll never have this type of love. Aim high and never lower your standards for any man that wouldn't travel through an eternal winter with you just to bring your sister home. Never mind that that will never be the case. He would do it, though, if it ever were.

9. Life advice

When life gets you down, Disney is always around to pick you back up. There is a lesson to be learned from every movie. Seriously, we're all a little mad because dreams are wishes our hearts make but as long as we just keep swimming, hakuna matata.

10. Epic theme park

If you're a Disney addict, you get the pleasure of being able to live out your dreams and addiction through rides and meet-and-greets. What other addictions allow you to have this kind of childish fun and get away with it? Go put on those Mickey Mouse ears and wear your Disney fanatic-pants proud.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
