6 Reasons I Could Live Without Snow For Good

In This Article:

Living north for 17 years we got hit with tons of snow over the years. As a kid, I loved it. I loved making snow angels, and sledding. But now I would prefer to never see it again.

Here are six reasons why I dread the snow, and dread winter because of it.

1. The snow is cold

The snow is literally beyond freezing. I personally don't like weather below the 60s, but that is my personal opinion. The snow is way too cold for comfort — like you are going to experience hypothermia when you take a step outside.

Maybe if the snow was not cold, which is literally impossible, I would like it.

2. It is pretty for a second

The first snowfall of the year is usually when I might like it. I don't like blizzards, but I like when the snow is falling little flakes at night time. At some point, the snow is going to turn a dirty mud color and people are going to walk/drive in it. So, the beauty of the snow fades away.

3. You can't drive

If you have two-wheel drive, it is literally impossible to successfully reach your destination in the snow. It will triple your estimated arrival time if it is snowing outside. You slip and slide, and the ice is awful. People underestimate how bad road conditions really are, and they end up into an accident.

I personally, get bad anxiety when I have to drive in the snow. Also, with my job at a nursing home I have to go to work. They don't close because of snow.

4. It takes forever for the snow to fade away

In the winter it seems like it takes forever for the snow to melt. Depending on the amount of snow there is, the snow might stay there for weeks. Rain does not bother me, it pours and it is gone. Snow — you see it for forever.

At this point it is not even pretty anymore, some spots are grass and others are snow.

5. Everything is delayed

When I was a kid, I loved no school and a snow day. But honestly, as I'm ready to graduate I HATE snow days, every day you miss is one day you have to make up in June. Its days being pushed to the very end — days you would rather be on a beach, but you are sitting in class.

6. It means it is not summer yet

Snowy weather means summer is not close and I can't soak up a tan and swim in the ocean. So WINTER, hurry up.

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.

Fandango

There are a lot of foods in this world, but there is only one dish that stands above the rest: Pizza. If you're close to me or at least know who I am, then you know that I'm totally obsessed with pizza. It's one of my favorite things to eat and I will NEVER turn down a slice, even if it doesn't have my favorite toppings. There isn't a day that goes by where I'm not thinking about pizza. I even sleep with a pizza pillow every night! There are many reasons why pizza stands above all other foods, and here are just a couple reasons why.
