You stop breathing for a second as you process a simple Facebook status or shirt on May Day that seems to lock your fate– your enemy committed to the same college as you.
Everyone has these people in their lives; the ones you’re ready to never see again after graduation, so the realization that you’re going to spend the next four years with them can be a hard one. Yeah, this coincidence sucks in the moment but trust me– it is not a big deal. Here’s why:
1. You never see them.
Regardless of the size of your campus, there are always so many other people around. The odds you see your enemy in the crowd of people are so slim.
2. Even if you do see them, you don’t have to acknowledge them.
And if you’re lucky, chances are they won’t acknowledge you either.
3. You’ll make different friends than your enemy, so won’t have to deal with them anymore.
Hey, they’ll do their own thing and you’ll do yours. It’s a win-win.
4. No one cares about high school drama anymore, anyway.
You’re meeting so many new people every day and none of them have the history you do with your enemy. Unless the drama affects your daily life, don’t try to pull your new friends down with high school drama; it’s irrelevant.
5. And hey, maybe you’ll even become friendly with your enemy.
Honestly you probably won’t but, hey, you never know.
6. Your college experience will still be everything you make it to be.
No one can stop you from doing you and rocking it.
Don’t let anyone make you fall out of love with your school before you even get to campus. You’ve worked so hard to get to this point; nothing and no one should stand in your way of fully embracing your new life. Yeah, your enemy will be on campus; however, you’re about to meet so many new people– it honestly will not matter.
