14 Reasons To Attend High Point University
High Point University

High Point University is known as one of the best hidden secrets of the south. The college, after being taken over by President Nido Qubein, has blossomed into the beautiful university it is today. Though we all want to keep it hidden, here are some reasons to attend the best university out there!

1. The president of HPU, Nido Qubein

You'll find him riding bikes with students, handing out chocolate bars on Halloween and even sitting in the stands with students during sports events. Never will you meet a president as dedicated to a school as Dr. Qubein.

2. The housing

Yes, this is actual HPU housing. Even the freshman housing is better than upperclass housing in some places. Having your own kitchen and bathroom is worth it.

3. The faculty

The employees of HPU are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. From the Slane Café workers to the Starbucks ladies, they never fail to serve with a smile.

4. The professors

Each and every professor is beyond helpful and there whenever you need them. It's nice to have educators who care so much about how well you do in their class.

5. Greek Village

This is real and this is all of our Greek Life at HPU. Between six sororities and six fraternities, there is a home for everyone -- plus, a lot of fun.

6. Slane and Cottrell Student Centers

Not only are buildings beautiful on the outside, but they are beautiful on the inside, and helpful too! There are many different rooms and places for study groups, presentations and, even better, a Starbucks located in each one. (The Slane Starbucks is currently getting a makeover!)

7. The pools and fountains

Hot? Well, we happen to have five different pools and a fountain on every corner!

8. Small class sizes

You may think having a small class isn't a good thing because you get noticed, but you'd rather be a name than a number.

9. Derby Day

Who doesn't like a day filled with inflatables, water slides and grilled corn? Because here at HPU, we have just that a week after move-in.

10. Finals Week

During finals week, just straight up these stairs in the evening, you'll find little treats provided by HPU, including Panera, Cold Stone and Barberitos.

11. 1924 Prime Steak House

This is the five-star restaurant located at the top of the Wanek Center. Not only does it serve really good steak, but it is also a culinary learning experience. BONUS: it's part of the meal plan!

12. The arcade, movie theater, and ice cream truck

You know it's going to be a good day when the ice cream truck comes out, and it happens to come out a lot when it's hot out!

13. The food options

Starbucks, Subway, Chik-fil-A -- the food options are endless and much better than other schools.

14. The endless opportunities to get involved

There are always ways to get involved, such as being a peer navigator to the incoming freshman or being a part of greek life. HPU makes sure you get involved in some way or another and is one of the best schools out there.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
