5 Reasons Why April Is The Worst Month In College

I'm still alive, but I'm barely breathing.

As the end of the school year and spring semester are coming to an end, it is becoming more and more obvious why this is the worst time of the year. Everyone is stressed out of their mind, pulling their hair out, and worrying about their grades and their social life. As a college student, we all know how stressful this month can be and how slowly it goes by. It's like our own purgatory we’re stuck in and here’s why:

1.Class Projects

This is the time when all the professors get together and make all of their projects due at the same time, or at least it feels that way. So many of our classes are “end-loaded,” this means that the majority of our major assignments are due at the end of the semester. How do they expect us to get them all done?

2. Tests

These tests are the final tests before the final exams. These are always the worst tests because we are never given enough time to study and prepare for them. Not only that, if this information is going to be in the final, then that’s even less time to study this information for the final!

3. Events

For some reason, the school always chooses the end of the semester to have all of these different events. It’s a great stress reliever, but there’s just no time for it all. Apart from the school events, organizations are having events as well that we have to plan and execute. I swear, every weekend I’m either going to an event or throwing one. When is there time for school?

4. Money

This month is also the worst month for our bank accounts, because we are so stressed out that we’re spending our money everywhere. From the late nightcoffee to keep us up to the late night snacks to calm our stress, to the early morning coffee that keeps us going, to all the food cravings during the day. With all this spending, we’re broke before summer starts.

5. Finals and Graduation

Ah, that light at the end of the tunnel does exist. All the preparation the entire semester and past several years have finally paid off. We just have to get through the stress of finals. This time of the month can be very chaotic, especially for seniors. Not everyone is going to get that luxury of taking blow-off classes that last semester. So, the majority of seniors are stressing about final grades and exams. But once its all done, you will get to walk across that stage.

So no matter what classification, what major, or what school you go to, this month is most likely the worst month of them all. But just remember, once it is over, summer begins and you can finally relax. Unless you have a job, then you probably wont get too much time off, but hang in there!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
