Why I Am A Terrible College Student

Do you embrace or reject the college stereotype?

Why I Am A Terrible College Student

Do you ever have those moments in life where you just hate something that you are supposed to love? For me, I just cannot stand a lot of the typical things you are supposed to do in college. It is an isolating feeling to realize that you are an anomaly, but at the same time, it can feel kind of liberating to know that you have retained your true self even among the masses of people.

1. Pulling all-nighters.
I have never pulled an all-nighter in my entire life, either for school or for fun. I never procrastinate enough to have to stay up all night finishing an assignment, and I just value my sleep way too much to ever even want to try this one.

2. Eating fast food.
Call me crazy, but I really hate fast food. It hurts my stomach, and even as a child, I was never a huge fan of fries or burgers. While we all have breakdowns and binge eat food in college, I will never be the girl who Ubers through the In-N-Out drive-thru at 2 a.m. for a Double-Double.

3. I read for fun.
Even on top of my prodigious pile of textbooks, I am always reading a personal book on the side. It helps me decompress after doing hours of schoolwork, and when I procrastinate on my homework by reading, I feel less guilty.

4. I rarely watch TV.
While most college kids don’t actually watch shows on a physical TV anymore, binge-watching Netflix isn’t the bane of my existence. I tend to watch shows more in the summer and only keep up with shows I really love during the year.

5. I hate extremely loud rap music.
While rap is the current favorite in pop culture and clubs, I usually have never heard any of the songs they play at parties.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
