Reason Staying Home For Spring Break Is The Better Option

Laying on the couch all week never felt so good!

Reason Staying Home For Spring Break Is The Better Option

It's finally here; spring break! Everyone is running the opposite way of campus, but where are you headed? Most are off to the beach, Daytona, woo! Good for you for wanting to spend a week blowing all your money on a below average hotel! I'm sure you'll have so much fun beachin' with the entire university!

But I have to admit, I am completely content with not going on a road trip this year, and where I am headed is right to bed. Going home for entire week may not seem like fun for some, but I absolutely can't wait for these exact reasons.

I need a break.

After these nine weeks of nothing but school work without even a single day off, there is nothing I need more than to just lay on the couch for an entire week of binge watching the whole first season of "Fuller House" that I haven't had the time to sit down and enjoy yet.

Being at home means real groceries.

The fridge has actual, real food, and you can eat it on actual, real plates! Is this what heaven looks like? Because I think so. You can't get a home cooked meal at the beach now can you? While you're at home, you can indulge on some of your favorite hometown restaurants too. And yes, your dog will be just as excited to see you as this one is to see this plate of meat.

A week of relaxation means no alarms.

Sleep. And sleep some more. That week of midterms has burned you out and it's time to sleep for about three days straight because you have no obligations to get up for.

Or it means the complete opposite.

Or if you're like me, being home for break means you get extra days to work. Yes, this means a little less sleeping, but don't pretend we don't all need the cash. And the best part about my job is that there's great food here too! The moral of the story is you never go hungry while at home.

Your liver needs a break.

A beach vacation is doing nothing but continuous harm. Not only do you need rest, but so does your body. A week at the beach means a week of belonging to the drinking class... Don't you have enough of this at school?

Mommy is there to take care of you.

When I called my mom bawling last week, I think she got the hint about how stressed I am. She told my she was cleaning my room and would schedule us a spa day. Isn't she the best?

No matter what, spring break will be great. If you've never experienced a week at the beach with your friends, you should most definitely pile into a van and head down to Florida! But if you're on your way home for #SB2k16, you have it the best, in my opinion.

Enjoy a week of good food and a clean house while you relax before these last six weeks of school. Happy spring break everyone! Enjoy it no matter where you are!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
