For most of us, school is over and the hectic schedules have ceased in excited anticipation of the coming holiday. We brave the unbearably cold weather to buy gifts for family, catch up with friends we haven't seen in a while and take part in annual traditions like seeing Christmas lights or watching classic holiday films. Actions like these are normal for the season, expected even, but they aren't what makes this holiday season so special. Christmas isn't about all the presents received or given. It's not about where you go or who you spend it with, what you do or how you celebrate. It's about spending time with loved ones celebrating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ.
With a Lord as great as ours, it doesn't matter if you spend the holidays in a house full of family or a hospital room. You shouldn't care whether or not your tree is full of presents underneath it. We shouldn't even care if it feels like Christmas or not, because none of it matters. What matters is that we celebrate Jesus this season, and relish in the time that we have to spend celebrating with those you love most. Don't let this holiday go by and forget why it was ever celebrated in the first place!
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."Matthew 1:23
"An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord." Luke 2:9-11
