Do We Really Need Makeup?

The more natural, the better.

Do we really need makeup to feel beautiful? This is a constant question that I keep seeing on social media.

“Women should not wear too much makeup”

“The more natural, the better”

Do we REALLY need makeup? From my point of view, I don’t think we need make up. It gets messy and takes up too much time. It’s an investment that honestly I don’t always have the time for. The budget-friendly makeup can be a 50/50 quality wise and the high-end makeup takes time to accumulate if you’re not a beauty guru or just have a bigger form of income. But the truth is, I WANT makeup. I love being able to go in-store or online to Sephora/Ulta, shop on Morphe, BH Cosmetics, Beauty Bakerie, etc when I can afford it. I love seeing brands come up with new eyeshadow palettes. I love being able to create different makeup looks with the different shadow colors. It’s wonderful to be able to blend colors and expand my horizon and knowledge on what makeup can do. I love the ability to create a channel on Youtube to show what I've learned and how I'm growing.

In a sense, we do need makeup. Makeup for the inner artist in us. Makeup to create, inspire, design, anything our hearts design. Makeup to show love, happiness, sadness, joy, hurt, pain, and every emotion in between. Makeup can be as minimal as a bare face with mascara or as much as recreating a Picasso painting on your entire face or body.

Some of us can say we don't need makeup to feel beautiful, while others say the exact opposite. Needing and wanting makeup varies and constantly changes just like people in society. We should celebrate, love, change, grow.

Makeup is and will always be an art form. Art is something we need in the world. Self-acceptance is also something we need. Love makeup but also learn to love yourself because no one is going to do it for you.

You are a blank canvas waiting to tell a story.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
