Moving into an apartment brings many new experiences.

I recently moved into my first apartment, and I really didn't realize how "adult" I was going to have to be. Living "on your own" (although I have roommates), means that there are more chores to take care of-- that you might not have realized before.

Here are a 5 of the responsibilities that you might not have realized you actually have to do:

1. Regularly grocery shopping.

Yes, I knew I was going to have to grocery shop. However, I usually only have to go to the store for a couple things. I don't know if I ever realized just how expensive and how many things you have to buy to have a full load of groceries. Quite frankly, it's a little exhausting. After you even finish grocery shopping, there's the unloading and putting away all of your groceries. Ugh.

2. Regularly cooking.

You never really realize how much you don't usually cook until you actually start doing it regularly. While I enjoy cooking, I often don't cook all three meals. After a long day, you never really realize how exhausting it is to prepare yourself dinner. Microwave meals sometimes are my best option. I'm in college, okay?

3. Cleaning.

I wouldn't call myself a clean freak, but I wouldn't call myself messy either. Obviously, having an apartment means regularly cleaning it, and you never really realize how much cleaning you actually have to do until you move in. Nothing makes you feel more adult-- than cleaning your toilet.

4. Decorating.

If you know me, you'd know I love house decor. I love looking at the home goods sections. However, I never really realized just how much decor I was going to need. I'm still in the process of decorating my apartment... after spending the summer buying things to be prepared.

5. Rent.

No matter how much you've saved and budgeted for, your first real rent experience will hit you hard. Suddenly the "first of the month" seems like it comes every other week.

Bottom line: adulting is hard.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
