Your twenties can be the most confusing time in your life. Everything and everyone around you is changing. You are either pregnant and married, or still trying to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life, or both. It is safe to say we evolve the most in our twenties, even compared to our teenage years.
1. Money doesn't grow on trees.
If there is anything to be understood in life, it is that there is so much to experience and no money to do it, unless you're a Kardashian. There is some form of guilt following each purchase because the money going out seems to always be more than the money coming in. How do our parents do it? When you find out the secret, let me know.
2. Nothing in this life lasts forever.
The realization that your high school boyfriend might not be the one and your parents aren't going to live forever is becoming all too real. Nothing lasts forever, no matter how it feels today so stay out a little later and hug a little tighter every chance you get.
3. Life keeps it moving no matter what.
Regardless of if your car breaks down or you're having a bad hair day, you still have to make it to work and do your best. Nobody is going to stop time for you or hold your hand through every tribulation like before and life will knock you down, a lot. But time keeps moving and so will you.
4. Your attitude, along with everyone around you, is contagious.
Misery loves company just as much as happiness loves company. Nobody wants to be around you when your attitude is sour and it is okay to distance yourself from those who make you that way. As hard as it might be, your best friend for the last five years might not fit your happiness anymore and it is time to let go.
5. The "awkward years" were not your teenage years.
The acne is still there and even though the braces have come off, it feels like you still need a tour guide through life. The job interviews and the hangovers along with many first dates, the teenage years feel like a breeze at this point.
