We live in a uniform world, where people are born to live lives, where we are constantly getting closer and closer to the sad reality of our death. We are born and raised to fit into this world, and continue on to raise kids that will do the same. It is a never ending cycle that rules the world. We grow up, most of us forced to sit in a classroom 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, learning how to do math we will never use, write essays we will never write, and learn history we will never remember. We are prisoners of technology, and slaves of social media. We’re living in a world where time is constantly escaping us, but we're wasting it sitting in front of television screens and worrying about how many likes we’re going to get on instagram. If we know that we’re never going to be younger than we are at this exact moment, then why are we spending it snapchatting, instagramming, texting, and doing other pointless, material things that won’t matter in 20 years?
This moment, the one we are in at this exact point in time, will never happen again. We will never experience something more than once, and as we go through our lives, wandering aimlessly, infinite moments are escaping us as we take them for granted. People want change, but no one is willing to put themselves out there and be the change. Everyday in our world, murders happen, suicides happen, bullying happens. But what are we doing to fix it? People say that they are against these things, but what’s going to change if a bunch of people just say they are against it and nobody makes a real move to end it? Our world isn’t going to change. That’s the reality. It’s not going to change because people realize what I’m talking about everyday, but no one is willing to put themselves out there and do something about it. We live in a “free” world, that is ruled by untrustworthy politicians, not leaders. Large corporations rule our economy, and we are controlled by the government.
We have no idea what lies behind the walls of the White House, what the government is hiding from us. But we still sit here, in front of our computer screens, just going along with our everyday lives. We wake up in the morning and try to tell ourselves that we will be better people today, but as we try to make a better tomorrow, we continue to do the same things as yesterday. People in other countries are dying of starvation, in dire need of help, and we sit here on our expensive phones, living in our expensive houses, doing nothing. We sit in classrooms when we can be making a difference somewhere that needs it. We lay in bed at night thinking about our lives, unable to pinpoint a means to our existence.
Some of us believe in God, others believe in science, and some believe in both. Some go to church every Sunday, some decide not to. Some are one color, others are another. But there's something that we all are, and that’s human. One person isn’t better than another, and one person isn’t always right. Opinions matter, and the best person you can possibly be in your life is yourself. You can’t judge people, it’s not your right. You can’t wish you were someone else, because you aren’t. Life is life, and that’s it. So let’s make a difference, and change this monotone world that society has created.
