No matter how many times Republicans deny it, climate change is real and it is happening -- whether we believe it or not. Just look at the weather. it's 60 degrees one day, 30 degrees the next. I'm no meteorologist, but I'm pretty sure these aren't normal weather patterns. This is definitely concerning, so shouldn't we be doing something to combat this?
Luckily, people like Leonardo DiCaprio exist. He has been a huge advocate when it comes to climate change, and isn't afraid to voice it when necessary. Even in his Oscar speech he used his platform to talk about the risks of climate change, and urged us to take action. "It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species," says DiCaprio. He even gave a speech at the UN in 2014 that I urge anyone reading this to take a moment to watch.
DiCaprio speaks the truth about climate change out of genuine concern for our species, especially regarding the fact that we are continuing to ignore it in hopes that it will go away. The reality is, this is not going to go away, and if we continue to push it aside, it will only continue to destroy us.
Instead of focusing on politics, war and money, we should put our major priorities into the environment. Although many countries around the world differ in views, one thing remains the same -- we all live on Earth. World leaders need to come together to help ease the effects of climate change in order to save the Earth because without it, we have nothing.
We are continuing to take our home for granted and it is suffering as a result. If we don't take action our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will suffer the consequences of our ignorance. It shouldn't have to take a celebrity to make everyone understand what is happening right outside our own window.
In the wise words of Leonardo:
So please, remain informed and start taking notice before it is too late.
