Keeping New Year's resolutions can be tough, but it's important to go into the new year with goals in mind to help motivate you for a productive 2017. Here are some realistic resolutions for students at all colleges and universities:
1. Set aside one hour a week to job search for summer 2017
Plan in your schedule every week just one hour for the next couple months to search for jobs or internships for the summer. This will help decrease stress during spring and get you ahead of the game for your summer plans.
2. Plan group workouts
Make a point to get together a group of friends that are motivated to stay healthy in 2017 and enjoy trying different types of workouts. Have each person in the group decide on 1 type of workout class or activity they enjoy and plan a session for the group. This way you won't get bored doing the same workout all the time and you can have friends there to get you through the sweat!
3. Meal of the month club
Ever feel like you barely see some of your old friends? Sometimes the weeks go by so fast that you don't get to meet up with old friends often enough. Get together a group of people who enjoy cooking so that once a month you can all come together (rotate locations) and cook a big healthy meal. You'll be able to catch up and share healthy recipes at the same time!
4. Cut sugar in drinks
Not many people realize that a lot of the sugar you consume is actually in the drinks you have, whether they be sodas, mixed drinks, or coffee. A great way to cut down sugar intake is to choose drink options with minimal or no sugar. This can automatically help you feel better and be healthier.
5. Take time for yourself
Set aside an hour a week to do something by yourself with no use of your phone or computer. In today's society, you rarely find people even eating alone without having their faces buried in their phone. Taking a walk outside or doing a seasonal activity can brighten up your day and help you relax.
