Realistic New Years Resolutions For College Students
Happy New Year Festivals

With the new year right around the corner everyone is making resolutions that we know we will only keep for about a month and then forget all about them. As a college student it is hard to find time to do things with your busy schedule of classes. Here is a list of realistic New Year's Resolutions that you will be able to stick to as a college student.

Go to the dining hall at least 3 times a week.

Stop eating the leftovers in your mini fridge that you don't even remember how long they've been in there for. Go out with a group of friends or if you want alone time go by yourself and eat a meal that is sort of better than your month old leftovers.

Tell yourself that you will not eat ice cream today...then don't feel bad about yourself when you do.

Eating healthy in college is hard, but eating healthy while constantly being stressed is even harder. Its okay to treat yourself every once in a while but don't make eating ice cream become an everyday thing because your body will not thank you for that.

Clean your dorm at least once a week..

Sometimes you look at your roommate and think 'when was the last time we vacuumed the floor in here?' then proceed to look at all of the gross items on the floor and say that you really need to vacuum to floor. If you find yourself constantly forgetting to do this then make a list and put it somewhere you both will see it.

Give yourself at least an hour of your day to focus on you instead of the work you have to do.

During this time you can color, go to the gym, listen to music, or even watch your favorite movie on Netflix. It is good to distress for an hour and just relax before getting back to all of that work that you have left to do.

Get your work done before the day that it is due.

Procrastinating is one of the easiest things to do in college, but it is also one of the worst things to do. Getting ahead on work and getting it done before it is due will open up your schedule even more and you will start to feel less stressed about your assignments.

Go to the gym every once in a while.

I am not saying that you have to go to the gym everyday but going a couple times a week has major health benefits and is a very good way to relieve stress. You can even study at the gym while on the elliptical or treadmill.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
