Most people adore Christmas and love every aspect. By no stretch do I hate Christmas but there is one problem. Real trees. My family has bought a real tree for two years now. I prefer to have the real trees but here are a few problems with them.
Lets starts with the obvious problem: Finding one. In order to get a tree, you either have to decide to cut your own down or buy a pre-cut one. If you cut your own, it's cheaper but you have to stand out in the freezing cold until you can manage to get the tree you chose...and then you have to get in into your car. Meanwhile, pre-cut trees will cost you an arm and leg.
Then there is the problem of finding the right tree. You want one with no holes but you also want one that's tall, but not too tall. And how wide is it going to be? Will it fit in its designated spot? Will it knock into other things? There are so many variables.
Then when you get your tree home, you have to try to get it in the tree stand. Of course you didn't completely unscrew the screws from last year. So now you have to unscrew those for the new tree truck to fit. Then good luck screwing them back in. For our tree stand, we have to use pliers to screw it all the way down. Not to mention you have to have someone hold the tree in straight. Then if you end up the same way we did this year, the bottom isn't straight so now you have to deal with a tilting tree.
Then there's the worst part: the mess. You will be finding pine needles for the next year. They never go away: once you think you have them all, a couple fall out of the dust pan and just continuously multiply. The pine needles can't stay on their branches for even a day.
No matter what your preference is, we can all agree real trees are a mess even if they have a good smell and seem more jolly.
