An Open Letter To The Sorority That Changed My Life
Maggie Burton

Dear sisters of Alpha Chi Omega,

You'll never know how much each of you truly mean to me. I know some of you may not know me because you are new, but I hope there are sisters around you that will be glad to tell you about me. I wish I could see the great things you all are doing for our campus. But I don't have to be active in the chapter to see the good you all are doing each day. I see it through your actions, your smiling faces on campus, your text, and your pictures on social media. I see it all around me all the time. Alpha Chi Omega will forever be a part of me and we will always share the special bond of sisterhood no matter how far apart we are. I know that some of you I will be able to call anytime I have a bad day, to be bridesmaids in my wedding, and just when I want to talk. I can't thank you enough for the special memories and fun times I will always cherish.

This letter isn't about those things though. This letter is one I hope you will take the time to read and reflect on your past time in Alpha Chi Omega as well as your future in Alpha Chi Omega.

To the new members: I hope you all have enjoyed your first semester. You are only beginning your journey with this amazing sorority. There will be times when it may get overwhelming, but I promise those times will be worth it. You have gotten your big who will be someone you will cherish throughout your time in this sorority. Take every opportunity you can to be involved. There may be times where you don't want to go to an event, but you go anyways because you don't want to be "fined". Don't see that event as a burden. Take in every opportunity to be with your sisters because you never know when it will be your last. You are never guaranteed anything in this world, so take advantage of every opportunity you can. Go out to dinner with your sisters. Go spend the night at the house and watch movies while you eat junk food on the weekend. Go on adventures with your sisters to new places. Go out with your sisters. Spend time with them. Grow in the bond and grow with each other. Prepare yourself for the hard times and be thankful for the good ones. Your sisters will always be there for you. Oh, I almost forgot, you'll be a big soon and will continue the legacy of your family. Cherish that!

To the bigs: Be there for your littles. Be that helping hand when they have had a hard week. Be the shoulder your little cries on when her boyfriend dumps her at 2 am. Make time to spend with your little(s). Invite them to events with you. Encourage them to participate. Be the example for them. Teach them well and lead them in the right ways of Alpha Chi Omega.

To my family: You will never know how much I miss each and every single one of you. As I think about all of the fun times we have had together, I can only smile. I see how you all are doing in the sorority now and I could not be more proud of you. I know you are keeping the family legacy going. Even though I am not there, I still want you all to know I am here for you at any time. Be there for each other and continue to seek the heights. I won't right much more because you all know how I feel as I have spoken to you before. Just know I love you all very much and I am so lucky to be part of the family.

To the executive board: You are the leaders of Alpha Chi Omega. Something has been instilled in you to want to lead our chapter. I praise you for that. I was once in your shoes and was scared to death to make a mistake. I will tell you, you will make mistakes. You are human just like everyone else and it is okay! You are the faces of Alpha Chi Omega. You are the individuals who were chosen by the chapter to continue to lead the chapter to new heights. Someone saw in you a spark and a love for Alpha Chi Omega. Don't lose that love when you are in office. Lead Alpha Chi Omega to new and great heights and always keep the fire and love for Alpha Chi Omega that made you want to run for office in the first place.

Finally, to my pledge class: It's almost over. The end is near. It's the moment you've been waiting on for almost 4 years now. You'll graduate soon and soon be alumnae of this wonderful chapter. In this final semester, take risk. Go out with your sisters. Go to any event you can. Cherish every moment you have with the sisters in the sorority. I promise you, when you leave, you'll miss it more than you thought. So make new memories. Talk to sisters you may not talk to as much. Make new friends. And most importantly make everlasting memories that you'll cherish for life. Grab this last semester by the horns and hang on for the ride, but love every minute of it.

So, to the sorority I owe a huge thank you. You taught me to be a better woman. You taught me to believe in myself and thing that I believe in. You showed me that I am a leader, helper, and friend. you strengthened my confidence and belief in myself. You showed me things others couldn't. You gave me my home away from home. But most importantly, you gave me sisters for life. Sisters I can call. Sisters I can cry with. Sisters who believe in me.

So thank you for that. Thank you for believing in me. Together we are real strong women forever. We are strong in the bond and always faithful. I would not want to call any other sorority home. Alpha Chi Omega will forever have my heart as will all of you!

LITB and love always <3

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
