I want to help you find that genuine smile again.

Hey you! Yes, you, I see you over there smiling but something tells me that smile isn’t real. Day in and day out you may feel like your lying to yourself and fooling others to convince them you are fine. But that isn’t the case, not from where I come from.

You should be able to show that sadness and ask for help instead of screaming inside for help but no one hears you. Stop right there. You know you can come to me, and you know you can speak your mind and I will listen. I'm sure you want to talk about it, but it’s hard and life isn’t easy.

I know you smile and I see that you smile, but deep down you want to cry. You're sad, you feel no one understands the pain, and sadness that you smile to get out conversations with people that you don’t want to have. I totally understand you! Don’t hide away. I’ll keep you safe from all of that because you can be sad around me and I won’t judge you. I will help you get through it because you are a survivor.

You should know how much your family loves you, how much I love you deep within. Your smile should be a real smile every time I see you. One where I know you're smiling so bright that your burst into laughter. And that by far is worth more than anything to me. You can do anything you put your mind too. So I want you to speak to your sadness and let it know it isn’t welcome at those inconvenient times, and let your happiness free.

Seeing your real smile instead of a fake one makes a difference. Seeing your tears is amazing to me because then I can help fix a problem and we can solve many things that are hard to face alone. Things that make your brain hurt or in general make your body tired. That’s why I’m telling you to show what is really behind that smile that the world sees, but also to let out the sadness to the people you know and love.

You know for a fact I’m one of them that can stand by your side and take you the distance that you need to reach. A goal you want to set, and a life that is worth changing and receiving help from people to turn your sadness into happiness. Then you can show a real smile.

You know your smile is beautiful. The way you hold yourself up high and not care about what others think. I know you have found a passion and you're showing me that by the way your facial expression has changed. I’m so happy we're friends. I’m so happy you're are alive and I’m showing you that every second I can. You are worth living for, you can show sadness but have a real, genuine smile.

I just though I would tell you. Smile bright and your future will show you everything

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
