For years, I had friends come and go and it felt like I would be alone. Dealing with drama as a child is not what anyone would want to endure. For me, drama had a good ending. One day, drama occured and I contacted one that was on my side but did not know her the very next day. At first, it felt awkward, but as time progresses, I got to know her and can now treat her as my own sister. Many of these factors can be relatable to whether your sister is blood related, adopted or feels like adopting your best friend as your sister emotionally.

8. You can look up to her for even the most ridiculous type of advice

I had my fair share of ridiculousness and she can admit the same, but the part that can make it all funny is how ridiculousness can actually help grow your relationship.

7. You can talk to her about anything and she can sometimes be free therapy on occasions

Yes, I have a professional therapist, but the precious gift of having a best friend to treat like your sister is like a bond that is can open to trust on just about everything.

6. A bond that you can't break no matter what

Throughout my life, I had friends and people I thought were my best friends come and go, but for this relationship, it's like you have a best friend with an unbreakable bond. No external force can possibly break a strong bond

5. You are willing to drop everything and be there for one another

Yes, we all have tough times in life, but being able to drop everything and be there for her is unlike anything. She might have a hard time and you are willing to help her.

4. It's normal and acceptable to look like a mess and be able to feel comfortable

Today's society talks about how important it is to look a certain way towards others, but if your best friend is like your sister, you can have really bad hair and it's perfectly normal.

3. You are there for her when she makes the most ridiculous choices

We tend to judge others on choices we all make, but when your best friend is like your real sister, you tend to support her on the most outrageous choices, be able to provide feedback if applicable.

2. You feel comfortable doing stuff with her over any other friend

You can have friends that you can do stuff and feel comfortable but it's a different story if your best friend whom you treat as your sister can do stuff and feel comfortable at the end. Your horizons are expanded with her in your life.

1. You can feel comfortable being quiet for long periods of time

There is an old saying "Silence is the most powerful thing." For a bond to be like this, being quiet can be just as powerful as being verbal. Silence can be the best thing as it is a powerful way for non verbal communication and doing stuff other than talking all the time.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
