Its that time of the year again December. A time where students get a whole month off of school, presents get wrapped under the tree, the lights are all around the city, and people shout “Happy Holidays” “Merry Christmas” as they cross your path. This is what Christmas is usually defined as and people turn their back on what the real meaning is.
We often get so lost in the meaning that this wonderful time of the year often gets traded for sorrow and sadness. Families affected with this economy can’t afford to put presents under the tree. They greave over the loved ones that our no longer present with us.
If we open our hearts to what we can’t see the real reason for the season will bound to change the way we feel. It’s the time where God shows his great love for us and celebrate the birth of the Christ child. His birth brought great joy to the world angels. Sheppard men, and wise men all gathered to witness this great event. For the star stopped over Bethlehem to guide everyone to see.
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
But why? Why would God forsake his son and send him to this cruel and harsh world? On December 25 forget the presents that are under the tree and don’t let lose sight of the ultimate gift that we have received. We know the answer, Jesus was born so one day the price could be paid for the things we have done that are wrong. He died on the Cross for all of our sins. His story is a gift of truth, hope and love.
No matter the struggle when we don’t feel like we can’t fight anymore and we lose hope. Just hold onto that little bit and remember what was given to us, such a selfless act that was never thought twice about.
