It's more than just a fashion trend to me, it symbolizes something more special than that.

The Real Reason I Followed The Bandana Trend

Tying a bandana around ones neck has been a trend for a couple months now. Every fashion blogger, beauty influencer, and instagram queen is doing it, and honestly it looks cute!

I first saw the trend when it girl, Hari Nef wore a bandana around her neck in The Drums’ music video for their song “There is Nothing Left”. After seeing that music video I knew I had to try the trend but I wasn’t quite sure if I could pull it off.

I first wore a bandana around my neck to 2015’s FYF fest, in Los Angeles, and I thought it looked cute and very music festival appropriate. But still I didn’t think I could pull it off for a normal every day outfit. But then I saw one of my favorite musicians, Bethany Cosentino wearing a bandana around her neck and that gave me the confidence to try it out with an everyday outfit.

Ever since then, tying a bandana around my neck has become a part of my every day accessories. If an outfit feels a little boring to me I’ll just tie a bandana around my neck and it immediately makes the outfit that much more interesting!

But to me tying a bandana around my neck isn’t just a fashion trend; it holds a little more sentiment to me than that. The bandana I usually tie around my neck is a dark navy blue one. Which can be seen below:

Which is also one of the same bandana’s my mom would wear on her head when she lost all her hair due to chemotherapy.

Every time I wear that navy blue bandana it’s just a personal reminder of how strong my mom is and how much of a fighter she was through that tough time. My mom is one of the most hard working, kind and strongest individuals I have met. Wearing a bandana around my neck to me symbolizes what kind of woman I strive to be, and that is to be like my mom. It's a personal reminder for me to keep working hard and to stay strong no matter what.

It is something that not only I think looks stylish but it has become something special to me. Wearing a bandana around my neck might look silly to some but it is way more special to me than just a fashion trend. What started out as me trying to follow a trend actually resulted in me paying homage to my mom.

Don't be afraid to follow fashion trends or even start trends! I encourage you to start fashion trends, follow fashion trends, but most importantly make them your own and give them your own personal twist. Good luck!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
