One of the hardest things in life is probably trying to determine who is a true friend and who isn’t. This is especially hard during high school, when you’re surrounded by a lot of cliquey people, fake people, mean people, etc. Here’s a list of some key aspects to look out for in fake friends and real friends.
Fake Friends:
- Will pick apart your physical appearance
- Always strives to be better than you
- Gives advice that benefits them in any given situation
- Only gives backhanded compliments
- Goes back on their word
- Makes plans with you then cancels to hang out with someone else
- Doesn’t invite you to anything
- Takes things from you and never returns them
- Spends your money but never pays you back
- Makes constant degrading comments
- Always seems to be too busy for you
- Goes on their phone or doesn’t listen when you talk to them
- Only does things for you when it’s convenient for them
- Makes everything about them
- Lies to you
Real Friends:
- Will always make you feel great about how you look
- Always encourages you to be better
- Gives honest advice no matter how painful it may be (and will help you overcome that pain)
- Gives genuine compliments
- Always keeps their word and never makes excuses
- Always keeps plans with you unless they have a good reason why they have to cancel
- Makes every effort to include you
- Returns anything and everything they borrow from you
- Remembers to pay you back for anything they needed your money for
- Builds you up and never tears you down
- Will always make time for you
- Genuinely listens to you whenever you talk to them
- Goes out of their way to do things for you- expected or unexpected
- Puts you before themselves
- Always tells the truth- no matter what.
