There are a whole 365 days in a year, but how do we act during every single one of those days?
Are we who God calls us to be? Or do we pretend to adapt to the world? Maybe we try to act like straddling the line between these is okay. Realistically speaking, there can be up to five versions of yourself...but whether you act the same in them or not is up to you.
1) "Friend-self"
The Friend-self version feels the need to "be cool" and "not boring," so sometimes you might do and say some things that you usually wouldn't on your own.
2) "Home-self"
The Home-self version hides out in your room sleeping the day away sometimes, plays board games with your family members, curiously asks how others are, and talks about soft and polite conversations so questions about your Friend-self don't awkwardly come around.
3) "School-self"
The School-self version regularly goes to class, obtains decent to good grades, is polite to teachers/professors...but then complains about them later that day.
4) "Social-self"
The Social-self version puts Philippians 4:13 in your bio on Instagram, but tweets raunchy and questionable content on Twitter.
5) "Church-self"
The Church-self version knows all the things people may to hear in order to get the answers or approval you're looking for. You sing songs in worship, freely take communion, and proudly show your dedication to serving The Lord's Kingdom here on Earth. How Christian of you.
However, God knows every single version of you. He knows when you're honest...and when you're not, when you're passionately following Him...and when you're just going through the motions.
"You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar." - Psalm 139:1-2
Whether all of these apply to you, just some of them, or none at all, don't worry because there's some neat things to remember:
1) You can completely be yourself because even if other people don't accept you, God will ALWAYS accept you and love you because you are His!
2) You can always help others no matter what your reputation is because God says that a helping hand is one of the most valuable traits of faith.
3) You can always love others no matter what situation you're going through because God commands us that love is the greatest commandment of all.
You are free. You are redeemed. Jesus died on the cross to save each and every one of us from the darkness of sin and the trap of the needy feeling for there to be multiple versions of yourself. Through Jesus' perfect and unconditional love, you can be the Son and Daughter in Christ that God created you to be!
