The Real MVPs Of Eastern

They did something right hiring you.

The Real MVPs Of Eastern
APA Leagues

During your four (or five) years at Eastern, chances are you will come across a number of people who make this campus a little more bearable. Whether it's in the Student Center, Hurley, or one of the dorms, there is usually someone that stands out from the rest. We’ve compiled a list of a few of Eastern’s MVPs to keep an eye out for during your time here.

Preston, Stu Griller

While most of the workers at the grill station are great, Preston is the real winner here. If you eat there as often as I do (which is TOO often), chances are he starts making your order as soon as he sees you walk in. Not to mention the fact that he usually hooks you up with extra food, i.e. eight mozzarella sticks instead of seven, four chicken tenders instead of three, etc.

Greg, Stu Café Cashier

Greg earned a spot on this list because he makes a mundane job a little more entertaining with his singing. We’ve all experienced it, right? Some of us may have even joined in from time to time. (Guilty!)

We give him credit for sitting there having to listen to the same five or so over-played songs and making the best of it. Odds are he was probably in a band at some point in his life…

Pat, Hurley Card Swiper

What a gem! Pat is probably one of the sweetest women you will encounter on this campus. She never fails to keep a smile and happy attitude, despite dealing with degenerates all day long. She is the ray of sunshine in the darkness that is Hurley Hall. Yes, Pat, I would love a to-go cup, thanks!

Lance, Hurley Sandwich Maker

Shout out to the pro sandwich maker himself! Yes, he may come off as angry most of the time, but if you’re lucky, you can get him to crack a smile. His precision and dedication to each and every sandwich is why he made the list. On behalf of the entire student body, thank you for cutting our sandwiches all the way through.

Sue, Hurley Sandwich Maker

While she lacks Lance’s sandwich cutting skills, Sue deserves credit, nonetheless. Her chipper attitude is a staple of Hurley. It's guaranteed that you leave her station feeling 100 percent confident about your sandwich choice, because she never fails to compliment the combination you just had her make. “Great choice!”

Thanks, Sandwich Sue, we thought so, too.

Larry, Laurel Hall Janitor

There’s no better what to start off the day than by a Larry greeting! Whether it’s a simple “Hello, have a great day,” or a compliment on your outfit, he’s sure to put you in a good mood the second you step out of the elevator. If that doesn’t work ,then the awesome music blasting from his phone while he cleans up the place sure will! Rock on, Larry!

Congratulations to all the MVPs and the countless of others who keep this campus under control. You make our days here a little bit brighter and much more entertaining!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
