How To Get Ready For Spring Break In Just Two Weeks

The best part of spring semester is coming up, spring break. The most popular weeks for spring break are coming up in two to three weeks, and my guess is that everyone has been slacking off on getting "spring break ready." It doesn't matter if being ready means having your spring break bod, being caught up with school, having enough money to go, or anything else that could get you ready. Chances are you're not ready yet, so here's how to get there.

You don't want last minute work after spring break

Make sure you take a look at your calendar and look back through your syllabus for each class. (If you still have it that is.) You don't want to come back from spring break to find out that you have a paper, project or test in one of your classes that you didn't even know about. No one wants to do any kind of work before, during, or after their vacation, so plan ahead. Do some work during the two weeks prior to your break so that you have papers, projects, readings, and studying done ahead of time.

You don't want to be broke during spring break

Spring break is expensive. Whether you're going to Panama City Beach, going on a cruise or just making a "staycation" with friends you're bound to be spending your cash. (Unless you got lucky and your parents paid for everything.) Take the time leading up to spring break to eat out less and spend less money on impulse purchases. Look at your budget, and decide how much you can save within the next couple of weeks by cutting back. Put something in savings, and don't touch it until you get to your destination. You might even want to start your spring cleaning and try to sell old clothes, books, trinkets, etc to get some extra spending money.

You also don't want to be broke after spring break

Make sure you set a limit before you go. What is and isn't paid for? What do you plan on doing during your vacation? Set aside a food budget and an alcohol budget. You might think that you can include the two in the same category, but you can't. It's not a good idea to sacrifice a meal so that you can buy a couple more daiquiris or shots for the group. Set a total limit of how much you can spend because you don't want to get back and remember that rent is due only to find out that you have $6 in your account.

You don't quite have your spring break bod

So, you've been slacking off on your work out plan since January, and now you've realized that you only have a couple of week before you leave? Don't worry. The point of spring break is to relax and have fun. Step your game up for the next two weeks. Stick to your work out plan and remember to eat right. Put the Girl Scout cookies and the ice cream down, and work your butt of until you leave. Will you get the same results you would have if you started earlier and kept with it? No, but you will feel like you tried. Just remember that your friends won't care what you look like in a bathing suit as long as you chip in for gas and pay for your part of the trip.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
