Maybe you've been hit with a family crisis or you're so stressed out at work you can't even think straight. Breakdowns are inevitable, after all, we're only human, right? I'm here to tell you that everything is going to be okay and things will work out. How do I know? Because life moves on; there's no stopping it. Guess what, you move on with it too. While you can't control every aspect of your life, you can control how you handle each tough situation that is thrown at you. Just know that you are never alone. Here are some of the best things to do so you can take a step back and breathe:
1. Surround yourself with positive, loving people.
It may sound crazy but the people you surround yourself with can have a huge impact on how you handle situations, how you feel about yourself, and how you live your day-to-day life. If you're surrounded by negative nancies, you'll find that you probably lean towards the pessimistic side as well. Find friends, family, co-workers, anyone that radiates positivity and it will surely make you feel better in the short term.
2. Journal or any other creative stress release.
I find that writing things down really helps me out. I can keep track of my problems this way. You always want to get out of the hard times in your life, but never forget them as they will shape you into the person you're meant to become.
3. Talk it out.
My personal favorite considering I love to talk. I always feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders or chest once I talk about a heavy situation with someone. Whether I seek out a professional or speak to a close friend or family member, there is always someone out there willing to listen and wanting to help.
4. Throw your energy into a new hobby.
Read a new book series, go paint a mug, go for a bike ride, do something! You've obviously got a lot of pent up energy and emotion to deal with, so throw it into something completely new and explore more about yourself. Use times of crisis to grow and mature.
5. Spend some time with nature.
Become one with the wind....or some other nature-y quote. I've found it's very relaxing to escape for a few hours without my phone and to become completely oblivious to the world around me. At least watch for bears and poison, so I guess don't completely tune out the world.
