Read Like Nobody Is Watching

“We love books because they are the greatest escape. That is because our own minds eye is the purest form of virtual reality.” ― M.R. MathiasInstead of rewatching old Friends or Parks and Rec episodes, pick up a book and learn something this summer.

Read Like Nobody Is Watching

“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” - Margaret Fuller.

She is right, the best readers have the most power. In a time when Netflix is the new relaxation activity nd every single book is being made into an even better movie, reading books seem to be becoming less and less more popular by the decade. Everyone is connected to the internet and it seems that no one wants to unplug for a second and pick up a good, dusty book. However, reading is more important than you may think. Reading can prevent Alzheimer's and people who read tend to be more cultured. A person who is read to as a child tends to be better at school and develops faster. Reading enhances your memory, it expands your vocabulary, and research suggests that regular reading is associated with a 35% reduction in the risk of dementia, and it can reduce stress levels by 68%!

If that makes you want to go to your nearest bookstore or library, then, here is a comprehensive book list of a mixture of old and new books to read before you're done with the summer. Don't spend your summer sitting watching old Friends episodes, read about a new imaginary world or learn something new about history! Here are 25 books that you must read, if not by the end of the summer, by the end of college.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?

Theater Kids

Throughout school, the theater department has always been my go-to place with go-to people when I need advice, a dance party, or just someone to listen to me vent.

You never know what's going to happen when you're dealing with theatre or what kind of characters you'll encounter. We have too much fun doing anything! One time in my senior year acting class, we spent an entire class period watching Bob's Burgers, and it was the greatest class period ever.
