Reading a wonderful pastime that continues to transcend time. Even if books and literature have changed and evolved over the years, it is a medium that continues to flourish. In today's time there tend to be so many people that are reading on a Nook, Tablet or Kindle. Now I think this is a great invention because you can carry a whole library on you. But personally, for me, I just can't do it.
Now I may be going super old school right now, but I just love being able to hold a physical copy of a book and actually turn the page as I go through the book. I just love the way that a book can sit in your hands and the turning of the paper, there is just something so magical about it. There are so many time where people talk about books and how they are worlds that you can just escape into and I just find it hard to escape into that world through a screen.
Another reason that I just prefer a physical book to an electronic version is because of my vision. I wear glasses and my vision isn't the best so because of that reading for extended periods of time causes me to get a really bad headache. So in addition to my book snob moments, I just physically can't do it unless I want to walk around with a migraine for the rest of the day.
Even with this, there is just something so special about seeing words on a printed page and being able to flip through that. And I don't know if it is just me, but there is something so fun and adventurous about going to a library or bookstore and searching for a new book. It's the constant treasure hunt that never ends in a loss. There will always be at least one good book that you get from a shopping trip that will end up being a great read.
I could just live in bookstores. From top sellers to secondhand bookstores, it truly is an adventure every time you step foot in one of them. Whether it be the books themselves or the people you meet, there are so many interesting things that you can find and learn from spending a couple hours in a bookstore.
IN the end, you can never go wrong with a nice book, a warm blanket and a cup of hot tea to sit down and just relax next to a window. Even though I personally can't read on a kindle and I have been told many times that I should just switch over to that. I personally just can't do it, but if that is your preference go right ahead. Anyway, you can read you do it! But for me, I'm going to stick with my physical copies and my bookstore hunting. As long as you keep reading, that is all that matters.
