The new year is actually here, and I think we can all agree that it snuck up on all of us. 2016 flew by and felt like a whirlwind. With every new year, a new season of life comes for many people. However, do not be scared for what 2017 will bring because everything will happen according to God's plan.

My face when I realized it's actually 2017

Let us hope that the end of 2017 does not leave us looking like Nick Miller's Grumpy Cat face. No matter what life brings us in the 2017 year, we can find positives in almost everything. Although Miller is depicted as cynical, he shows us that laughter and learning from many different situations is beneficial. Seek out opportunities to learn and grow in 2017.

I would say that the college student population is known for procrastinating. Make it a resolution to work on procrastination and get things done! Of course, this is not going to come easily, but with the proper motivation throughout the year, we can achieve this goal.

Me When I Should Be Studying

Don't be a Nick and not try anything new during 2017. Trying new things will expand your horizons and overall help you learn and grow as a person. You may want to try new foods, meet different kinds of people, or try out a new clothing style. The possibilities are endless!

Like every other year, we begin by praying that this one year will be different from the rest. Just remember that God will allow good and bad things to happen according to His plan. Of course, a little sarcasm and humor never hurt anyone!

While all of us are excited to begin our New Year's resolutions, we must not become so caught up in our resolutions that we forget to take time for some rest! There is a time and place for everything. Do not forget that binge watching New Girl is totally acceptable :)

With a new year, new songs will be released from our favorite artists. YOU GO GIRL! I hope you all have the best jam sessions in the car!

For college students, we are entering the spring semester. The semester with only one break. During the spring semester, we will all hit a point of delusion where we will have no motivation and question the point of college. Don't give up! Keep pushing towards your goals.

Every year is filled with good and bad decisions. Remember to always ask God to guide you through life and spend time in His Word everyday. With this, you will be able to make decisions knowing in full confidence that it is for God's glory.

As many new years approach, we are growing and maturing into different and hopefully better people, who are following God's Word and wisdom. Keep growing into the person God created you to be.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
