The infamous Brock Turner, a Stanford student, who sexually assaulted an unconscious woman, only spent three months behind bars. A prosecutor rebutted that he should have spent six years, but the judge ruled he only spend six months.
A slap on the wrist if you will, for a completely heinous crime.
It's clearly no secret the criminal justice system is tragically flawed, prejudiced, utilizes white privilege – do I even need to continue?
The point is, when you consider the fact that Meek Mill, who’s been sentenced to two to four years for violating his probation from 2008 for popping wheelies on his dirt bike and getting into a fight, you can’t help but to think that the “law” isn’t a determining factor in Meek Mill’s case.
When sexual assault in California is punishable for up to at least two to four years, you know Turner had privilege on his side. But, to reveal the stupidity of this whole ordeal, here are more rappers who have served more time than Brock Turner.
Lil Wayne
In 2007, Weezy pleaded guilty to attempted possession of a weapon in the second degree. He was sentenced for up to year, but the judge reduced the sentence to eight months. Because of good behavior, he only served four months.
Gucci Mane
Our reformed Guwop was charged in federal in 2013 for two counts of possessing a firearm as a felon. He was sentenced to serve three years and three months in prison. Given his criminal background, some would say this was unexpected. But did he rape an unconscious woman? I think not. Onward.
Lil Kim
She was sentenced to serve a year and a day in federal prison, and pay a $50,000 fine for perjury because she was withholding the truth about a shooting amongst some rappers with beef in 2001. She ended up only serving 10 months.
T.I.
He was sentenced to 11 months in prison for being in possession of the drug, Ecstasy, which violated his probation.
Beanie Sigel
This rapper was sentenced to and served one year and one day of prison in 2004 for federal weapons charges.
Compared to these seemingly minute cases, Brock Turner definitely should have received more time behind bars. What he did was both disturbing and monstrous, and no one should be able to walk the streets after the crime he committed.
