Good Neighbor Stuff

With the 42nd season of Saturday Night Live premiering in just a few days, Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett are ready to return with their refreshing off-kilter sketches. We look back on the YouTube days of Beck, Kyle, and Nick with a ranking of all 47 of their Good Neighbor Stuff sketches from best to worst.

47.

The elaborate set design might make some evidence to the opinion that Good Neighbor is better when the stakes are low.

46.

Funny gut-reaction the first watch, but not much more than that. There actually was some genuine suspense here, though.

45.

It's a shame because Chris Fitzpatrick is my favorite character of Kyle's; this just seems like the character sheet a writer would make before he or she wrote a book. The kid on the Nintendo DS was pretty funny, though.

44.

The costume lady was great.

43.

These interviews videos are mostly a toss-up to whoever the people interviewed are. This had the most abrasive and least funny bunch, but the guy in the thumbnail was definitely a highlight.

42.

A silent companion piece to Kyle's better smoking trilogy, the only real thing I got from this video was wondering how real the ending was.

41.

Maybe a funny video to share on your mom's facebook page on Christmas, but, other than that and the mom's deadpan in this video, there isn't really much.

40.

Could be--could be me someday.

39.

A disappointing low-concept later work, this video also fails from a confusing message--if there is one?

38.

This video struggles, for the most part, from the inability of Beck, Nick, and Kyle to really interact with everyone else, but they do use that to their own benefit at points; "To be honest, your parents probably didn't even want to have you." "They didn't?"

37.

The twist to this video is just too trite and obvious; I would have rather seen Kyle just do voices for two minutes. However, this might be their best video title.

36.

Decent nostalgia trip here.

35.

Kyle's inner dialogue reminded me just too much of Steve Carell's retelling of his faux sexual encounters in the poker scene of The 40 Year Old Virgin. Other than that, this just seems like a class project done for a film class during the editing section.

34.

First video on the list with a good payoff.

33.

The understated dialogue and drawing reminded me of Home Movies; maybe that's why I was asking for more at the end of this.

32.

I'm not totally sure why doing an outtake video on the main channel was justified; maybe it had to do with the original being the second most viewed video on their channel. Regardless, this is a testament to how talented these people are.

31.

Funny social commentary. I wish they did more dramatic commercial types like this one.

30.

Speaking of dramatic commercial types.

29.

This legitimately had an interesting story. They should have kept this going; could've been the next Firefly.

28.

Finally, a Kwanzaa movie. Well, close enough.

27.

I have a feeling this is one of the videos they sent to SNL. Each of the actors get their fair share, the production is top-notch, and it does seem forced. You know, for SNL. Still good, though.

26.

It's often talked about how these guys are better than most movie comedy writing. Most people would cut the bit at the ridiculous amount of directions (Vegas Vacation), but these guys went farther, and, boy, it was glorious.

25.

Why did he have to take his shirt off? Who knows?

24.

Maybe a couple minutes too long, this video is still a nice twist on the "just let me get dressed" cliche. Also, the ending!

23.

It seems like Kyle just gets better interviews at sporting events. Hope these three reunite for a rap album.

22.

It was funny enough...and then Britney showed up.

21.

A sequel that doesn't totally match up to the original, it was still nice to see Sophie's Vacation.

20.

Although Beck usually plays the straight man, this is a nice performance on his part as the Australian guy. Also a great title.

19.

Nick has fantastic reactions to getting picked on. And then this video pivots. Dark but deceptively funny stuff.

18.

Another nostalgia trip, this video is an all-around look at the ephemeral of the past. These guys were all All Stars, the best of the league (or half the best), but now, we can't recognize any of them. Except Jose Conseco. And why we know him is tainted enough.

17.

Everything just came together for this one. Let's go, Lakers!

16.

Really versatile video here. The tongue-in-cheek "I hope we...catch the criminal and...lock him up" the absurdist (black kid and white kid that are supposed to be Kyle and Beck), and the third act twist (walking out of the court room) give this video a good all-around feel.

15.

Other than an eighth grade Beck having a good beard, this video work best when Nick is in his underwear, surrounded by fire. If that isn't a GIF, what even is?

14.

Given their anti-establishment presence, it isn't surprising this was their last video. I swear they don't even get along.

13.

This might have been dry otherwise, but Kyle's performance bolsters it.

12.

Nick goes all out in this video, to much avail. Props for finding the "life preserver" jacket, too.

11.

Another great Nick performance, but not do be underdone by Nick and Kyle. "I love using the power of imagination to pretend that there's a tiny motor inside the vehicle, and I'm behind the wheel, operating it at a sensible speed." Also, great title.

11.

I don't know how Kyle came up with that accent, but it makes it even that much better. "You've got to get out of here! This is a private establishment!"

9.

Beck and Kyle do such a great job identifying a certain type of bro, whether it's Inside SoCal or this. These performances are great down to the "f".

8.

Kyle just goes crazy in this video, and all for the better. 0:32-0:36 is pure poetry.

7.

Worst case scenario for when you tell someone you want to be more than friends. It just gets played out so well, how awkward they are. De-de-de-de-de.

6.

As I said before, Good Neighbor is very anti-establishment. This is just a great example of how they seperate themselves from the YouTube community. Also, please watch the videos they show the links for.

5.

'

Beck just does this so well. I also don't understand how they creatively came up with "3-D puzzle of Mount Rushmore."

4.

I really wish I found this before me and my friends turned 18. Just a great video. They all turn 18 at the same time at the specific part of the day. Also a funny take on how dramatic and "boy, that escalated quickly" that anti-smoking commercials are. Still trying to find out where "I like kids; they got good ideas" came from.

3.

A really funny showcase by all three of these guys are. Also, a funny differentiation of high and low humor, going from the Y2K bug to cinestix.

2.

Just a comedy tour-de-force. It doesn't get better than putting these three guys in front of a camera. Well, one thing technically is...

1.

...and it's Knockers! This video is nealy flawless. There are so many interwoven jokes and jabs throughout. Also, the line "And the food's not bad either" is maybe one of the best comedic lines I've ever heard.

Don't forget to watch the Season Premiere of Saturday Night Live this Saturday at 11:30 EST on NBC!

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
