We grew up with them. We love them. They are all amazing, but some are clearly better than others. A blast from the past here is a definitive ranking of the best Disney Channel original movies that we all know and love!
25. "Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior" (2006)
I'm not entirely sure why I like this one so much, but I think it has to do with the fact that this movie was supposed to be serious and even at its most serious parts I was laughing.
24. "Pixel Perfect" (2004)
Remember when Phil of the future made a holographic girlfriend? Seriously why did parents let their kids watch this...it's pretty disturbing. But awesome.
23. "Cow Belles" (2006)
For most of this movie I really hated the one on the left, but they both redeemed themselves in the end.
22. "Brink!" (1998)
This one was never my favorite, but I owed it credit since it was one of the first Disney Channel original movies.
21. "Right on Track" (2003)
After watching this one, I begged my mom to let me star drag racing. The answer was no, of course.
20. "Tiger Cruise" (2004)
When I asked all of my friends about this one they didn't remember...which is shocking because Disney literally made a movie about 9/11 and nobody remembers it.
19. "Mom's Got a Date With a Vampire" (2000)
Again, Disney, this plot line is kind of messed up for little children. The mom goes on a date with someone who is actively trying to murder her. Still, my childhood halloween would not have been complete without this movie. Side note: where did that kid find a vampire hunter? Yellow pages?
18. "Twitches" (2005)
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like this movie when it came out. Also, the fact that it was released over 10 years ago makes me feel really freaking old.
17. "Stuck in the Suburbs" (2004)
Remember when that guy from SNL was in a Disney movie? Yeah I don't even remember the plot to this one, but I just remember that they all had really cool phones.
16. "Cadet Kelly" (2002)
Easily the best part of this movie is when Ren from Even Stevens got her hair dyed in her sleep.
15. "The Cheetah Girls" (2003)
"CAUSE WE ARE SISTERS! WE STAND TOGETHER!"
14. "High School Musical" (2006)
Yeah it's corny, but, hey, we're all in this together ;)
13. "Gotta Kick It Up" (2002)
Si, se puede! Si, se puede!
12. "Phantom of the Megaplex" (2000)
I haven't watched this one in a while, but I remember it being scary af.
11. "Quints" (2000)
This was the OG "Jon and Kate Plus 8."
10. "The Color of Friendship" (2000)
Love, love, love this movie to this day.
9. "Don't Look Under the Bed" (1999)
I recently watched this movie, and don't get me wrong it's one of my favorites but I just have one question for Disney: WTF?!?! Seriously? This is what you consider a children's movie? I was scared watching this in 2016. I must have had nightmares when I was 6 and watching this movie.
8. "Johnny Tsunami" (1999)
I loved this movie, but it made me really depressed that his parents moved this kid from HAWAII TO NEW HAMPSHIRE. That has got to be the biggest geographical shock ever.
7. "The 13th Year" (1999)
Disney, great movie and all, but watching scales appear on his hands made me very squeamish.
6. "The Ultimate Christmas Present" (2000)
I love this movie, but I would also like to point out that this girl is the worst main character for a Disney movie ever. She lies to her teachers and parents, goes through strangers' garbage, steals, and makes it snow in California which probably does god knows what to our already fragile climate problem just so she can have a damn snow day.
5. "Go Figure" (2005)
Having had a sister who figure skated, I watched this movie a lot when I was little, and I think that it is the most underrated Disney movie.
4. "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" (1999)
Zetus Lapetus this movie was awesome! Also the imaginary band that played "Zoom Zoom Zoom" will forever hold a special place in my heart.
3. "Luck of the Irish" (2001)
This movie was equal parts awesome and "wtf am I watching?"
2. "Smart House" (1999)
The technology was cool, but, Pat, the "Smart House" mom, was the stuff of nightmares.
1. Halloweentown (1998)
I shouldn't even have to explain my reasoning as to why this is number one, but I will anyways. I will proudly admit that, without fail, my family and I have a family movie night every year in October where we watch this and Hocus Pocus. This movie just makes me so happy, and it would not ever feel like Halloween without this movie. In the words of Marnie, "Halloween is cool." but "Halloweentown" makes it even cooler.
On a concluding note, after making this list, I feel extremely old knowing that latest of my beloved Disney movies was made 10 years ago. It feels like only yesterday *sigh*
