Fans of "Twin Peaks," it's our time to rejoice! The reboot of the famed 1990s show is slated to premiere in September 2016 on Showtime.
The reboot has gotten off to a bit of a shaky start. In April, David Lynch, the co-creator and director, pulled out of the project citing creative differences and an insufficient budget between himself and the network, according to EW.com. However, after pleas from both fans and cast members launched on social media, Lynch announced via a tweet that he would be returning to work on the show, and pre-production was resumed in May. Recently, fans have spotted Lynch filming at places like the Grand Prospect Hall and North Bend, Washington, where the show was originally filmed.
Filming takes place at the Double R Diner, or better known as Twede's Cafe to North Bend, WA residents.
Already 18 episodes have been confirmed for the new season, according to Consequence of Sound. Another exciting factor in the revival is that many of the original cast members will be returning to the show. Stars like Kyle MacLachlan, Sherilyn Fenn, and composer Angelo Badalamenti will be revising their past roles. News of the revival comes as a godsend to fans like me, since the show ended on a huge cliffhanger and we've all been waiting for answers since 1991.
Despite its shaky start, the revival looks promising and fans should look forward to what will happen next in the wonderfully strange world of "Twin Peaks."
