'Ralph Breaks the Internet' Stands Alongside 'Incredibles 2' As Best Animated Sequel

Ralph and Vanellope's adventure on the Internet was entertaining to watch, capturing both the negative and positive aspects of the Internet.

Apparently, "Ralph Breaks the Internet" was considered to be the best animated feature of the year, according to critics. Therefore, I decided to go with my sisters to watch "Ralph Breaks the Internet" in AMCS theater. The only thing I was very excited to see in the film was all the Disney princesses together in one movie.

What did I think about the movie? I would say, "Ralph Breaks the Internet" was one of the best films I ever watched this year along with "The Incredibles 2" and "Christopher Robin." The plot of "Ralph Breaks the Internet" was very enticing. Ralph and Vanellope ventured into the Wifi router that would lead them to the Internet in order to purchase a steering wheel for "Sugar Rush" so that Vanellope and the residents of "Sugar Rush" would not stay homeless. This film made me love Ralph even more! He was such a sweet friend that would do anything for Vanellope. It broke my heart to see him to be disheartened by the negative comments he saw after making many trending videos of himself to earn money to buy the steering wheel for Vanellope. Not to mention, I was crushed when Ralph saw that he was going to lose his best friend after hearing that Vanellope wanted to stay in the dangerous car racing game, "The Slaughter Race."

Ralph and Vanellope's adventure on the Internet was entertaining to watch, capturing both the negative and positive aspects of the Internet. We get to see gimmicks we were familiar such as Google, Facebook, Oh My Disney, and eBay. At the same time, we get to see the shady side of the Internet such as the dark web, where Ralph was taken to find a virus.

One thing that surprised me about this film was that it was the first Pixar film that had singing because there was a moment where Vanellope was expressing her dreams of staying in "Slaughter Race" through song. Upon meeting the Disney princesses, Vanellope was told by them to convey her dreams through song, in which she successfully did. To be honest, I thought Vanellope would come to her senses and realize that she was happy being Ralph's best friend. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case at all throughout the whole movie. Vanellope was indeed serious about staying in "Slaughter Race," which kind of upset me. I thought she was being really selfish at first because she was going to leave Ralph and "Sugar Rush," but when I came to think about it, Vanellope represented that little dreamer in all of us and we should be rooting for her to chase her dream. I mean, who wouldn't want to chase their dreams?

The climax of the film really struck me when the hundreds of Ralphs created by virus turned into a giant and captured Vanellope. At first, I thought they were going to parody "King Kong" for fun but the best moment in the climax was when Ralph told the giant that letting go of Vanellope would strengthen their friendship instead of ending their friendship. What was very meaningful about this scene was that the giant represented Ralph's insecurities as well as his desperate need for Vanellope. Ralph learned that separation would not destroy their friendship at all, in fact, he learned that letting friends go would only make their bond stronger than before.

The ending of the film was so bittersweet. Ralph allowed Vanellope to stay in "Slaughter Race." I was literally crying at this point. I was actually hoping Vanellope would come back to stay with Ralph in the end but she didn't. Ralph returned to the arcade alone but he managed to interact with other arcade members and had fun still. Not to mention, I was glad to see that Ralph and Vanellope was video-chatting which meant that they were still in touch, only reminding us how social media and digital technology itself serve to bring friends together no matter how they are despite the detrimental effects of digital technology we were told of.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
