Before I Ever Have Kids With My Husband We Are Getting A Dog

Forget baby fever, I'm ready to have puppy fever.

Before I Ever Have Kids With My Husband We Are Getting A Dog

I have been thinking of names for my future children since forever and I know I'm not the only person who has. We plan out every detail of our futures since a young age, such as me, an eighteen-year-old girl who has had her wedding planned multiple times since the age of nine. (Shout out to Pic Collage for helping me collage my wedding details!) However, what I cannot plan is a perfect husband, even though I tried to plan him out when I was eleven m. While I may have planned him to look and talk like Zayn Malik at the time, I did not plan on what kind of father he would be. No one really knows what kind of parent they will because it is something you cannot plan as much you'd like to.

No one is ready to be a parent but there are ways to help you feel a little ready. I have seen it on Twitter where many have tweeted that they wish to raise a dog with their significant other before having a child. Having a dog is basically the same as a child, besides the middle of the night crying of course. If you can raise a dog with someone else it shows responsibility between you two and teamwork, which are key to raising a child. You'll face your first task of making a decision together which is picking a dog together. From there the caretaking begins and the dog becomes a child of yours.

Having someone depending on you is far different from you depending on yourself. Owning a dog with someone who isn't your mom is quite different because let she honest, mom did everything such as set up vet appointments and buy the dog food. Now that you and your partner have a dog to take care of you both need to be on top of each other to make sure the vet appointments are being made and the dog food Ian being bought. And not just any dog food, because you want to make sure your dog is eating the best and getting his/her nutrients. You also need to train your dog and make sure that they know not to eat your slippers.

It seems simple really and fun and I'm sure it is fun but it is also stressful in its own ways. Which is why I want to start my family with a dog before deciding to start one with little babies. We need to see where our priorities are set and how our parenting instincts will kick in. Yes, it won't be the same as a child but it is a start to knowing the responsibility in a relationship when you both are in charge of someone, such as a beautiful dog.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
