You Shouldn't Be Sad On Rainy Days And Here's Why

Rainy days are a crazy thing. I say this because it's just a full day of rain and dreariness. It's easy to be sad and down because it's dark and just gray out.

Something I figured out a long time ago, is that rainy days are ideal for getting stuff done. Rainy days are a great chance to go through your stuff and organize and get all that stuff done that you always mean to do, but put off because of other things.

It's like a daily spring cleaning. You get some time to just sit and really just go through stuff. You can organize and even make a bag of garbage of stuff you don't need anymore.

A funny thing about cleaning and organizing is that you don't realize until you're done, how much progress you made. You don't really think about how long a certain area sits collecting dust until you really address it.

There's a certain feeling of the area is different. Whenever I clean my room up, I always try to redesign a little, so I'm not always walking back into the same layout. I feel the difference whenever I walk into the room and it always feels new.

A bit of a flaw of mine is the fact that college is taking up all of my time. I tend to move stuff to my room, but it just becomes these piles until I get to really sit down and go through everything on the weekend, and even then, it's a bit overwhelming.

This past weekend, I took some time and I finally got everything put away and cleaned up that I've been meaning to for at least 2 months, if not more.

None of it was waste, it was just stuff that was sitting in all different places, and I finally got everything where it's supposed to be.

You don't really realize until you organize how much of a difference it makes. It's one less thing to be on your mind. We have to live in a certain situation, so we might as well make our situation comfortable. It's the little things that make a difference.

So, don't be sad on rainy days. Be happy and go through things. Clean up. Not only are you cleaning up your living space, but you'll also be cleaning your mind, and you'll feel free. Free of clutter. Free of thinking about cleaning clutter.

If you've got some time, use it. The clutter only builds, and it only gets harder the sooner it gets handled.

Be ahead of the curve.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
