More often than not, Spring means an influx of rainy days and as some would put it, depressing weather. Dark and wet skies don't have to mean a washout day and a sour mood! By appreciating the best and little things about the rain, we can proudly admit that we're secretly hoping for the next drizzly day.

1. It's the perfect backdrop for cuddling up by the fire with four blankets and having an all-day Netflix marathon.

This becomes extremely dangerous napping territory if you stock up on snacks and drinks before you sit down. Pro tip.

2. Something about the rain cleanses your soul.

It's like my stress and worries are washing away with each falling drop.

3. Precipitation pairs quite well with a pot of tea or coffee.

While in Ireland, I indulged in a pot or two of tea multiple times a day, without shame. Now when Ohio turns wet and windy, I reach for my Irish tea— don't forget the splash of milk, please!

4. Whether you're a writer or not, the drizzly skies bring out your inner creativity, just itching to put pen to paper.

It's like Jack Nicholson in "The Shining" — the determined and dutiful writer part, not the psycho family-killing part.

5. There isn't a bad book to read when the skies are gray.

I can thrust myself into a book so quickly and completely, thanks to the white noise of the rain. That pitter-patter on the glass is one of the sweetest sounds in life.

6. Slippers are the icing on the cake of a cozy day uniform.

Sweater? Check. Sweatpants? Check. Fuzzy slippers? Perfect.

7. Amy Winehouse sounds even more soulful with every raindrop that hits the window.

It blows my mind how such a hauntingly beautiful voice can remain still so under-appreciated in pop culture. A legend gone too soon, undoubtedly.

8. Watching a vintage black-and-white movie with a storm raging outside is an invigorating and other-worldly experience.

Classic love stories and washout days are the perfect combinations to waste away the day (in the best way possible).

9. Rain gives you an excuse to hygge-out your bedroom for creating the ultimate comfort zone.

Who doesn't want a dimly lit, cozy and soft paradise you can call home? By adding elements like fairy lights, plush pillows, rugs, mounds of blankets and really soft finishes, you can turn your sterile space into a relaxation haven.

10. Water is essential to life.

Without the rain, this Earth would cease to exist as it is today. All of nature and all of humanity would be wiped out. Rain is the thing that keeps our ecosystem in check: we thank rain for aquatic life, groundwater, the hydrologic cycle, even more.

Rain is a part of life and we wouldn't be here without it, so we should appreciate it even more for all it does for us.

11. Nothing's better than putting on an old record and listening to the crackle of the vinyl complement the drizzle on the windowpane.

This sounds extremely cliché and hipster, but you've truly never heard music until you've heard it on vinyl. The scratchiness of the record invokes an authentic raw quality that can't be matched on digital. Nothing like a good thunderstorm to back up your record player, am I right?

12. Cloudy skies provide a great release for emotional healing.

It's no secret that the dreary side effects of rain showers lead one to be more emotional. Use the rain to wash away your stressors, confront those emotions, and restore from the ground up.

Kickstart the feels by watching The 1975's Change of Heart video, cue the above GIF.

13. The smell of the rain. That's it.

When H20 hits the pavement, it immediately brings me back to my childhood— wet asphalt, playing with the worms in the driveway and seeing the fog lift after the rain shower.

14. The sun always comes out after the rain, no matter how dark and stormy.

Life is one big, crazy cycle. We have our rainy days and we have our sunny days, but we know that the light will rise from the gloomy darkness. Whatever we're dealing with in life, we can get through it— One rainy day at a time.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
