Rain Rain Don't Go Away, And Please Come Back Another Day

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

Mother nature, please ignore all the haters who wish for the rain to go away. Growing up the best days to walk home were the rainy ones. Stomping through puddles and getting absolutely drenched made the best adventure. I’ve always had an unpopular opinion about gloomy weather. I absolutely love it! Let me tell you why.

1. Relaxation

Many people claim to like the rain for one, and only one, reason. Rainy days are the perfect movie days, book days, cuddling days, and napping days. I suppose I could just sum it all up and say rain equals relaxation! Cuddle up on the couch or in bed with a warm drink in hand, maybe even catch up on a few hours of lost sleep.

2. Puddle jumping

Even though rainy days call for a surplus of indoor activities, there’s no reason to be afraid of getting a little wet. Unless you’re the wicked witch of the west, the rain won’t hurt you. I promise. Throw on some rain boots and frolic in the rain. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

3. Reflection

Rain washes away the old and brings in the new. Rainy days are a perfect time to get some rest, personal space and rejuvenation. Rainy days, when the pace is slowed down a bit, are the perfect time to reflect on what has been going on in your hectic life. Use the time to get back on your feet and get reorganized.

4. April flowers bring May showers

Like I said, rain washes away the old and brings in the new. Just because I love the rain, doesn’t mean I don’t love myself a good beach day as well. I love to sit out in the sun or lay in my hammock, but I know that I have to wait out the rain before I can get there. I might as well enjoy the rain while it’s here, because I know summer isn’t too far behind.

The rain can be a beautiful thing if we let it be. Mother nature, please ignore all the naysayers who can only find the positives in a sunny day, and continue to bring us rain. Give them the chance to love it as much as I do.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
