Calvin Klein's design style has always appealed to more mature generations; the clothing, the logo, and the promotional graphics all have a simple, minimalistic style to them. However, Raf Simons, whose style is known to be colorful and active and appeals to younger generations, has just recently become Calvin Klein's Creative Director. Simons designs t-shirts, jackets, and pants out of various colors and materials. He collages photographs, quotes, and song lyrics on many outfits. Some designs have a simple photographed texture on them, or a pattern of bright colors.
Any artistic vision Simons has is an eyeful. Raf Simons is worn mostly by the generation of gangsta, hip-hop street kids. Many rappers adorn themselves in Raf Simons outfits, such as A.S.A.P. Rocky
Simons was previously the Creative Director of Dior until he left the job back in October of 2015. He was replaced by Maria Grazia Chiuri from Valentino. He joined Calvin Klein at the beginning of this month. Now that the popular designer has taken control of Calvin Klein's artistic direction, the image and attitude of Calvin Klein will become youthful and will appeal to people other than working-class citizens, as well as encourage people of the working class to dress more artfully and make everyday life interesting.
